  • Rebounds against White Sox
    Allen (4-2) yielded six hits and a walk over shut scoreless frames Sunday, striking out three and earning a win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Allen wasn't incredibly sharp Sunday but was able to work out of multiple sticky situations while Cleveland combined for a shutout against the White Sox. It was a much-needed bounceback after he was tagged with seven runs in just 2.1 innings against Detroit in his last start. Allen forced 11 whiffs Sunday, his highest total since his season debut March 29. It was his first scoreless outing since April 3, which was also the last time he completed at least six frames. Allen is sporting a 5.56 ERA with a 36:15 K:BB through 45.1 innings. His next start is currently lined up to be at home against the Twins. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
     
  • Gives up two home runs
    Buehler (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings.

    Advice: The majority of the damage against Buehler came in the opening frame when Fernando Tatis and Jake Cronenworth smoked back-to-back solo home runs. Buehler would later exit with bases loaded and one out in the fourth and was charged with an additional run. He struggled with his command in another abbreviated start, throwing 45 of 77 pitches for strikes and did not generate many whiffs.   • Allows four runs in loss
    Sandoval (2-6) gave up four runs on 11 hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Royals.

    Advice: The Royals went with death by a thousand cuts against Sandoval -- just one of the 11 hits went for extra bases. All four runs were surrendered in the fourth inning, and the southpaw kept runners off base in just one of his six frames. This was the fifth time in nine starts Sandoval has given up at least four runs. He's at a poor 5.00 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB through 45 innings this season.   • Punches out 10
    Kremer (3-3) took the loss Sunday against Arizona, allowing six runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.

    Advice: Kremer notched double-digit strikeouts for the second time this season, tying his career high in the category. He fell off after retiring the first nine batters he faced, allowing at least two baserunners in each of the following innings before getting the yank in the sixth. He was pulled after allowing a two-run homer to Jake McCarthy and walking Kevin Newman consecutively. Despite having allowed nine homers in 46.0 innings this season, Kremer owns a solid 3.72 ERA and a 47:15 K:BB. Kremer's next start is scheduled to come Saturday against Seattle.     McArthur allowed a run on one hit and did not walk or strike out a batter over one inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels.

    Advice: McArthur was tagged for a solo home run by Willie Calhoun in the ninth inning, but the Royals' lead was never in real danger. Over 4.2 innings in May, McArthur has yielded six runs (five earned), with three of the eight hits he's allowed in that span leaving the year. He's 9-for-12 in save opportunities while adding a hold, a 4.42 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP over 18.1 innings this season. The right-hander's shaky pitching of late hasn't cost him the closer job, but John Schreiber has been an excellent setup man and could take over if McArthur doesn't start locking things down.   • Dominant in win
    Lugo (6-1) allowed one run on five hits while striking out 12 and walking none over eight innings to earn the win over the Angels on Sunday.

    Advice: Quality of opponent aside, Lugo was excellent Sunday. He landed 77 of his 112 pitches for strikes and recorded double-digit strikeouts for the first time this season. It was also his first start without issuing a walk. The right-hander is now at a 1.66 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 48:12 K:BB through 59.2 innings over nine starts. Lugo's had good moments both as a starter and a reliever in his career, but his start to 2024 is a completely new level for the 34-year-old.     Gallen (5-2) picked up the win Sunday against Baltimore, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out four.

    Advice: Gallen notched a second straight quality start, following up a one-hit gem against the Reds with Sunday's two-run showing against the O's. Three of the four hits against Gallen went for extra bases, allowing doubles to Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg while Adley Rutschman slugged a solo homer in the sixth. Gallen owns a 2.86 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP across 44.0 innings in 2024. He's lined up for a home start against the Tigers next weekend. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
     
  • No-decision Sunday
    Montas allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out three over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.

    Advice: Montas was cruising until the Giants built up a five-run rally in the fifth inning. The right-hander has made seven starts this year, and in the six where he was able to avoid injury, he's allowed two or fewer runs three times while giving up five runs in each of the other three. It averages out to a pedestrian 4.20 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB across 30 innings overall. Montas is projected for a difficult road start versus the Dodgers in his next outing.   • Luis Severino surrenders two runs in no-decision
    Luis Severino pitched decently in a no-decision against the Braves on Sunday night, allowing two runs on four hits over his five-plus innings of work.

    Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander walked three batters and punched out four on the night. He served up a solo homer to Jarred Kelenic in the second inning, then allowed the first two hitters to reach in the sixth inning before turning the ball over to the bullpen, and one of them ultimately crossed the plate. Severino got 12 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he totes a 3.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 41/20 K/BB ratio (45 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Marlins in Miami. Rotoworld Today, 7:14 pm
