    Advice: Soroka walked Alex Kirilloff on four straight pitches to open the bottom of the first and appeared to be headed for another rough outing, but the right-hander was able to work his way through the inning despite also allowing a two-out single. Soroka actually shut out the Twins over the first five innings before giving up back-to-back home runs to lead off the sixth, though he also managed just one strikeout on the afternoon.     Keller allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over five frames in a no-decision against the Brewers on Thursday while striking out seven.

    Advice: Keller got off to a rocky start, surrendering a solo home run to William Contreras in the second at-bat of the game before then allowing another two runs in the third following back-to-back walks to open the frame. The right-hander would fail to make it through six innings for the first time in his last four starts while allowing four earned runs for the fourth time this season.     Advice: Peralta struggled with his command throughout the contest, allowing four of the first eight batters to reach base before going on to surrender a season-high five runs. The right-hander gave up three runs in the first inning alone and failed to make it through five frames for the first time this season.     Cortes (1-2) took the loss against Oakland on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four batters over seven innings.

    Advice: Cortes tossed a quality start of seven-plus frames for the third time in his past four outings, though he has just one win to his ledger over that span. All of the runs the left-hander gave up Thursday came in the third inning via a pair of long balls. Despite notching just one victory across six appearances, Cortes has done pretty well so far this season, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB over 36 innings.   • Keeps rolling with another save
    Miller notched a save against the Yankees on Thursday, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit and struck out three batters.

    Advice: Miller continues to flourish in the closer role -- he's a perfect six-for-six in save opportunities so far and hasn't given up a run since his first outing of the campaign. The right-hander's heater is also paying off with big strikeout numbers, as he's racked up an impressive 23 punchouts over 11.1 frames.   • Notches first win of season
    Wood (1-2) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

    Advice: Wood allowed plenty of traffic on the basepaths, but the only run that crossed the plate against him came on a second-inning Jose Trevino solo homer. This was by far the left-hander's best outing in an A's uniform -- he came into the contest holding a 7.89 ERA and 2.03 WHIP while failing to go five innings in three of his five starts. One strong start isn't going to wipe away Wood's poor overall body of work on the campaign, but it at least helped him get into the win column for the first time and provided hope that he could yet turn things around.     Gore (2-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

    Advice: Gore held the vaunted Dodgers offense mostly in check and notched his first quality start of the campaign, but he still was handed a loss as Washington's offense couldn't figure out Los Angeles starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The outing marked the first time this season Gore has completed six innings, and it was a nice bounce-back after he gave up three runs over a season-low four frames versus Houston his last time out.     Yamamoto (2-1) earned the win over Washington on Thursday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six scoreless innings.

    Advice: Despite a rough season debut, Yamamoto has thus far lived up to the billing that netted him a 12-year, $325 million contract in the offseason, as he's tossed a scoreless outing of at least five frames in half of his six starts so far. The Japanese hurler's outing Thursday was his second straight quality start and lowered his season ERA to 3.54. Yamamoto also holds a 1.07 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB through 28 innings.   • Can't escape third inning Thursday
    Vasquez allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Thursday.

    Advice: Vasquez got another start with Yu Darvish (neck) on the injured list, though he didn't fare well in the Colorado altitude. The Padres staked him to an early 4-1 lead, but the right-hander allowed the Rockies to pull even in the third and was lifted after retiring only two batters in the frame. Vasquez was much better in his first start of the campaign against the Blue Jays on April 20, and Coors Field has a history of demolishing pitcher stat lines, so the right-hander may still get another turn in the rotation if Darvish isn't ready to return when first eligible.
