• Bryce Elder strikes out six in no-decision Sunday
Bryce Elder looked sharp in a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday night, striking out six batters over 5 1/3 innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The right-hander scattered seven hits on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. Pete Alonso was responsible for all of the damage that was done against him, with an RBI single in the third inning and a run-scoring double in the sixth. Elder generated just seven swings and misses on 85 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. Still 1-1 on the season, he’ll bring a 4.79 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 16/8 K/BB ratio (20 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Padres. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:14 pm

  • Blake Snell dominates in rehab start on Sunday
Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance in his minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, retiring all 12 hitters that he faced in order — seven of them via the strikeout.

Advice: Of course that’s the type of dominance that you would expect from a reigning National League Cy Young award winner squaring off against Single-A competition. Nonetheless, it was nice to see Snell pitching well on a mound once again. He only threw 46 pitches in the outing, so it’s unclear if he’ll require another minor league tune-up to get stretched out further, or if he’ll be deemed ready to return to the Giants’ rotation after this one. • Kodai Senga (shoulder) remains in holding pattern
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Saturday that Kodai Senga (shoulder) will need a few more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters.

Advice: Mendoza added that Senga remains in the process of tweaking his throwing mechanics, which is the reason he hasn’t faced hitters yet. It’s unclear whether this latest development will push back his season debut, but it’s a notable wrinkle as he continues his rehabilitation process. Rotoworld Saturday, 10:32 am

  • Servais: Bryan Woo (forearm) to make next start
Mariners manager Scott Servais said late Friday that he expects Bryan Woo (forearm) to make his next start.

Advice: All indications are that Woo will make his next start on Wednesday against the Royals after making a precautionary exit from Friday’s return outing against the Athletics after experiencing forearm tightness during an extended break between the fourth and fifth innings. His fastball velocity dipped significantly in the fifth inning following the layoff, which led to a visit from Seattle’s training staff and his removal from the contest. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern at this juncture, but it’s certainly a situation fantasy managers should monitor closely. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the coming days when he throws his usual between-starts bullpen session. Stay tuned. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:03 am

  • Battling forearm tightness
Woo said after Friday's 8-1 win over the Athletics that he has been dealing with tightness in his forearm, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Woo acknowledged that he experienced forearm tightness during his recent minor-league rehab outings, but the issue didn't prevent the Mariners from activating him from the 15-day injured list Friday ahead of his 2024 MLB debut. The right-hander struck out three and allowed just one hit and one walk over 4.1 innings Friday, but he ended up being pulled as a precaution after the forearm tightness cropped up again. Mariners manager Scott Servais said he expects Woo to be fine, and for now, the expectation is that the 24-year-old will make his next start, which is expected to come Wednesday against Kansas City. • Mariners calling Bryan Woo’s exit precautionary
The Mariners announced the Bryan Woo’s exit from Friday’s start against the Athletics was precautionary.

Advice: That’s as far as the information went in the update. No word on what exactly occurred or if Woo might need to miss any additional time. It’s good to see that they’re taking every possible precaution with the 24-year-old hurler though. Expect the Mariners to provide another update on Woo’s status on Saturday. • Exits with trainer
Woo was removed from his start Friday against Oakland due to an apparent injury, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Woo appeared to be reluctant to come out of the game, but the Mariners' training staff saw something they didn't like and decided to pull the right-hander. In his first start of the season after working his way back from elbow inflammation, Woo pitched 4.1 scoreless innings and struck out three batters while walking one. It remains unknown if his latest injury is related to his elbow, but clarification should come relatively soon. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:06 pm

  • Bryan Woo exits with injury in return from IL
Bryan Woo left Friday’s game in the fifth inning with an apparent injury.

Advice: Such a bummer. Woo was making his season debut after battling elbow inflammation, and he had allowed just one hit in 4 1/3 scoreless innings before departing. It wasn’t obvious what the problem was, but it most likely was the arm acting up. Although it seemed like he wanted to keep going, the Mariners wouldn’t let him throw warmups to make his case. • Officially activated
The Mariners reinstated Woo (elbow) from the 15-day injured list prior to his start Friday versus Oakland.

Advice: Woo will be making his season debut after missing the first month-plus of the season due to right elbow inflammation. The 24-year-old was spectacular during his rehab assignment, striking out 17 batters in 11.1 scoreless innings, and he'll get a chance to stay hot against a below-average Athletics lineup. Tyson Miller was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:41 pm
