    • Getting day off
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel will get a breather Friday after making five straight starts in left field. Jake McCarthy will slide to left while Randal Grichuk steps into right field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:28 pm
    • Juan Soto (forearm) will be OK, per Heyman
Initial doctor reports suggests Yankees OF Juan Soto will be OK, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Advice: The initial prognosis is inflammation for Soto. While his timetable to return to the field is still unclear, this is certainly a relief as it appears the Yankees have avoided the worst case scenario with their star outfielder. Rotoworld Today, 12:09 pm

    • Initial imaging shows inflammation
Soto received a preliminary diagnosis of left forearm inflammation after undergoing medical imaging Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. He's out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: The 25-year-old was removed from Thursday's contest with left forearm discomfort, which he apparently has dealt with throughout the past week. Soto will sit for at least one game, and his outlook for the immediate future remains a bit murky. The initial reports are an encouraging development and indicate he may have avoided a serious injury, however. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 pm

    • Return could be delayed
Alvarez (thumb) has flown back to his native Venezuela to tend to a family matter, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Alvarez had been set for activation June 11 upon the Mets' return home from London, but he might now be back a day or two later. The young catcher has been sidelined since April 20 with a fractured left thumb and has played five rehab games, going 3-for-14 with one home run. Rotowire.com Today, 6:14 am
    • Alvarez’ return from IL to be delayed
Francisco Alvarez’ (thumb) return from the injury list is likely to be delayed for a non-injury reason, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

Advice: Alvarez’ could’ve returned to action as early as next Tuesday, but now he’ll be delayed by a day or two. He had to fly home to Venezuela due to a family matter. Rotoworld Today, 6:09 am
    • Swats fifth homer
Correa went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Correa got Minnesota off to a fast start with a solo shot off Marcus Stroman in the first inning. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to give him consecutive multi-RBI performances. Though Correa is batting just .217 (5-for-23) over his past six games, he's knocked in a hearty nine runs over that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

    • Struggles against Twins
Stroman allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Minnesota on Thursday.

Advice: Stroman was handed a 7-2 lead through four innings but couldn't go deep enough to qualify for the victory. He allowed two doubles and a walk while also hitting a batter in the fifth frame, retiring only two batters before he was pulled. This was a big letdown for Stroman after he notched four consecutive quality starts while posting a 1.01 ERA over his previous 26.2 innings coming into Thursday. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, which tentatively lines up to take place in Kansas City next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm

    • Volpe scores run, steals 12th base in win
Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Volpe’s stolen base was his 12th of the season. He continues to occupy the leadoff spot in New York even after the return of D.J. LeMahieu. Volpe is up to 46 runs scored in 63 games for the Yankees this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:37 pm

    • Correa belts fifth home run Thursday
Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Correa’s fifth of the season. He later added a sacrifice fly and a single. Correa is hitting .263 with a .765 OPS and 24 RBI on the year. His .190 ISO would be his highest since his .205 ISO in 2021, his last year in Houston. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm
