    • Cleared to start Sunday
Lopez (back) is slated to start Sunday's game against the Padres in Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: The right-hander dealt with back tightness in his most recent start Monday against the Cubs and was lifted after five scoreless innings, but he's apparently feeling better two days later. Assuming he's able to make it out of his between-starts bullpen session without incident, Lopez shouldn't face any major workload restrictions when he toes the rubber Sunday. After spending most of the last two seasons as a reliever, Lopez has exceeded expectations with his move to a starting role in his first year in Atlanta, going 2-1 with a 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB in 40.1 innings through his first seven outings. • Angels designate Amir Garrett for assignment
Angels designated LHP Amir Garrett for assignment.

Advice: The 32-year-old southpaw struggled in six appearances with the Halos, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and an 11/5 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings. He still misses plenty of bats and throws from the left side, so once again there may be interest in his services on waivers. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Angels recall Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander has really struggled in seven starts at the Triple-A level this season, registering a 5.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and a 35/11 K/BB ratio across 36 2/3 innings. Amir Garrett was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

    • Ty France goes deep as Mariners top Royals
Ty France clubbed his fourth home run of the season on Wednesday, helping to lead the Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Royals.

Advice: France blasted his 414-foot solo shot off of Royals’ right-hander Alec Marsh in the fourth inning, increasing the M’s early advantage to 2-0. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now hitting .243/.295/.368 with the aforementioned four long balls and 14 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Andrés Muñoz slams door on Royals on Wednesday
Andrés Muñoz slammed the door on the Royals on Wednesday afternoon, recording the final five outs to protect a two-run lead and earn his seventh save of the season.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander came on with runners at second and third with one out in the eighth inning and the Mariners leading 4-1. He did allow a run to score as Bobby Witt Jr. grounded out to second base, but then Muñoz punched out Vinnie Pasquantino to end the threat. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff double to Salvador Perez but nothing more — finishing the frame with a pair of strikeouts. He now holds a 1.47 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and a 24/7 K/BB ratio (18 1/3 innings) to go along with seven saves and a pair of wins on the season. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
    • Bryan Woo fans five in victory over Royals
Bryan Woo was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Royals, striking out five batters over 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 24-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the afternoon. The lone tally against him came on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bobby Witt Jr. in the sixth inning. Woo generated 13 swings and misses on 79 pitches on the afternoon — eight of those on his heater which averaged 95.1 mph — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to build upon this strong performance when he toes the slab against the Yankees in New York on Tuesday. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Bobby Witt Jr. plates both runs in loss to Mariners
Bobby Witt Jr. went 0-for-3 and drove in both of the Royals’ runs in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Mariners.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar finally got the Royals on the board with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, pulling them to within a run at 2-1. He also plated a run with a ground ball in the eighth inning. On the season, he’s now slashing .293/.359/.500 with five homers, 23 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
    • Alec Marsh pitches well in loss to Mariners
Alec Marsh pitched well in a losing effort against the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon, surrendering two runs (one earned) on five hits over his five frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out seven batters on the day while allowing only one base on balls. The Mariners scratched out an unearned run against him in the second inning, then Ty France got him for a solo homer in the fourth inning — but that was the extent of the damage done against him. Marsh got a whopping 16 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the day — nine of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll carry a stellar 2.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 31/10 K/BB ratio (37 innings) into a nice matchup against the Tigers in Kansas City on Tuesday. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Rejoining rotation Sunday or Monday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Megill (shoulder) will return from the 15-day injured list to start either Sunday in Miami or Monday in Cleveland, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Earlier in the week, Mendoza was non-committal regarding what type of role Megill might handle once activated, but the Mets cleared up their rotation logjam a bit Wednesday, when Jose Butto was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Joey Lucchesi was called up from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, but he could be sent back to the minors shortly thereafter in preparation for Megill's return to the rotation. Megill has performed well over his four minor-league rehab starts across stops with High-A Brooklyn, Double-A Binghamton and Syracuse, striking out 23 while allowing just one earned run on nine hits and one walk over 14 innings.
