    • Francisco Alvarez (thumb) takes BP on Saturday
Francisco Alvarez (thumb) took batting practice on Saturday at Citi Field.

Advice: Alvarez progressed to on-field batting practice for the first time since last month’s thumb surgery. The 22-year-old backstop will presumably head out on a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the coming weeks, barring any unexpected setbacks. The hope is that he’ll be ready to return at some point in mid-to-late June. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:15 am

    • Goes yard in Friday's win
Fry went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Fry has homered five times over his last 13 games, going 14-for-33 (.424) with a 10:6 BB:K in that span. The 28-year-old got a start at catcher versus southpaw Patrick Sandoval in this contest, though manager Stephen Vogt has found room for him in various spots including first base, third base, left field and designated hitter this season. Fry is slashing a stellar .360/.500/.628 with six homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and three stolen bases over 114 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:39 pm

    • David Fry stays hot with homer, two hits vs. LAA
David Fry homered while going 2-for-3 in a blowout win over the Angels on Friday.

Advice: Just like we all expected, Fry has been one of the best hitters in the American League this season. You can’t prove we didn’t expect it, anyway. Fry has gone deep six times in his 35 games, and his slash is a borderline unrealistic .360/.500/.628 over that timeframe. Mainly thanks to catcher-eligibility, Fry has to be rostered right now. • Set for batting practice Saturday
Alvarez (thumb) is set to participate in batting practice Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Alvarez landed on the 10-day IL after tearing the UCL in his left thumb April 19, and the 22-year-old catcher is on track for a return by late June. Alvarez was slashing .236/.288/.364 with one home run and eight RBI over 59 plate appearances prior to his injury. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:22 pm

    • Day off Thursday
Langeliers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Rockies.

Advice: Langeliers will get a breather for the day game after catching both of the first two games of the series. Kyle McCann will be behind the dish for the Athletics on Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:00 am

    • Sitting Thursday
Campusano is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Campusano will rest for the Thursday afternoon game after he started behind the plate Tuesday and Wednesday while going 1-for-7 with a run scored. Kyle Higashioka will draw the start at catcher and will form a battery with right-hander Matt Waldron. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:15 am

    • Notches first steal Tuesday
Langeliers went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in a win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: The slugging backstop got it done a bit differently Tuesday, with Langeliers showing some solid plate discipline while recording his second multi-walk effort of the season, both which have come within the last week. Langeliers' steal was also his first of the campaign, and with the pair of free passes, he's now reached safely in six consecutive games. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:56 am

    • Hoping to take BP soon
The Mets are aiming for Alvarez (thumb) to begin taking batting practice during their upcoming homestand, which begins Friday and runs through June 2, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: It's been a month since Alvarez had surgery to address a torn UCL in his left thumb, and he's almost ready to pick up a bat as he advances his rehab. The catcher remains on track to return from the 10-day injured list in mid-to-late June. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:32 am

    • Francisco Alvarez (thumb) could hit next week
Francisco Alvarez could begin taking batting practice next week as he continues his recovery from a torn UCL in his left thumb.

Advice: Alvarez is about a month away from returning, assuming that everything goes as hoped. He had surgery on the thumb on April 23. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:30 am
