    • Reynaldo López (back) likely to make next start
Reynaldo López tossed five scoreless innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: López certainly would’ve gone deeper into the contest, but he was lifted for precautionary reasons following just 71 pitches (50 strikes) after his back tightened up on him. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern with Braves manager Brian Snitker telling reporters afterwards that he doesn’t expect him to miss his next start. The 30-year-old righty will bring a stellar 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40/16 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Padres. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm

    • Exits with tight back
Lopez was lifted from Monday's start against the Cubs early due to back tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. He didn't factor into the decision after allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four over five scoreless innings.

Advice: Lopez was removed from the game firing 71 pitches, and he likely would've gone back out for the sixth had his back not become an issue. He'll be considered day-to-day leading up to his next outing, but the club expects him to be ready for his next start, per Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. • Converts for save No. 7
Jansen picked up the save Sunday against Washington, allowing one hit and no walks over a scoreless ninth inning. He didn't log a strikeout.

Advice: Jansen got an assist from catcher Connor Wong, who ended the game by throwing out Jacob Young during an attempted steal of second base. The 36-year-old has converted on seven of his eight save chances, owning a 2.63 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 13.2 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:11 pm
    • Kenley Jansen locks down seventh save in win
Kenley Jansen threw a scoreless ninth inning in a 3-2 win over the Nationals to secure a save.

Advice: The save was Jansen’s seventh on the season, and the veteran now has a 2.63 ERA on the year. He’s still likely to be moved by the trade deadline, but he figures to get a shot to close no matter where he goes, so he remains a rock-solid fantasy asset. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:52 pm
    • Nabs win in extras
Kimbrel (4-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings victory over the Diamondbacks, striking out one in a scoreless 11th inning.

Advice: He hit Christian Walker with his first pitch of the frame, but Kimbrel quickly escaped the jam by fanning Jake McCarthy and then inducing a double-play grounder from Eugenio Suarez. The veteran reliever then got rewarded when Jordan Westburg walked it off in the bottom of the inning. Yennier Cano worked the ninth inning at home in a tie game -- usage normally reserved for a team's closer -- while Danny Coulombe handled the 10th, so Kimbrel may not be back in the top spot in the O's bullpen just yet, but efforts like this should help him get there. • Collects sixth save
Jansen struck out two in a perfect inning Saturday to notch his sixth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: After the Red Sox broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jansen made quick work of the Nats in the top of the ninth with a groundout and a couple punchouts. The outing comes one day after Jansen was touched up for two runs in a non-save situation Friday. Jansen battled control issues early on in the season but has seemed to figure those out, putting up a 10:1 K:BB across his last six frames. Rotowire.com Saturday, 4:38 pm
    • Kenley Jansen whiffs two while picking up save
Kenley Jansen struck out two while picking up a save against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Jansen didn’t allow a hit and threw 12-of-16 pitches for strikes. The 36-year-old remains effective in the closing role, and he’s up to six saves while lowering his ERA to 1.86 on the 2024 campaign. Tough to complain about those results. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:28 pm
    • Orioles remove Craig Kimbrel from closer role
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Saturday that he’s not sure when Craig Kimbrel will return to the closer role.

Advice: Kimbrel pitched the seventh inning on Friday against the Diamondbacks and it certainly appears that the Orioles are set on giving him some lower-leverage situations to get back on track before they consider putting him back in the ninth inning role. For now, it seems like Yennier Cano will handle any save chances that arise, while Danny Coulombe and Jacob Webb could also be in the mix. Rotoworld Saturday, 11:26 am

    • Devin Williams (back) to resume throwing in May
Devin Williams (back) is scheduled to begin playing catch in two weeks.

Advice: Williams opened the season on the injured list recovering from a pair of stress fractures in his back and isn’t expected to return to Milwaukee’s closer role until around midseason. The 29-year-old All-Star stopper should kick off his throwing program in a few weeks, if not sooner, and be ready to progress to bullpen sessions at some point in June before starting a minor league rehab assignment.
