    • Kimbrel picks up 10th save Thursday
      Craig Kimbrel picked up the save against the White Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: With the bases loaded and a five-run lead in the ninth inning, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde went to Yennier Cano for what was an unconventional save opportunity. Cano hit Andrew Vaughn and allowed a two run single to Gavin Sheets to make it a two-run game. After striking out Zach DeLoach, Cano was removed in favor of Kimbrel, who got Andrew Benintendi to pop into a double play.       Jansen collected the save Tuesday, allowing one hit and no walks over a scoreless inning against the Rays. He didn't generate a strikeout.

      Advice: Jansen hadn't pitched since allowing a pair of runs and taking a loss May 16 and was able to shake off the rust after allowing a leadoff double to Isaac Paredes in the ninth, retiring three straight batters to pick up his eighth save of the season.       Lopez allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus San Diego in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader.

      Advice: Lopez exited his previous start against the Cubs early due to back tightness, but the issue didn't seem to bother him Monday. The right-hander tossed 83 pitches and left in line for the win before Atlanta's bullpen crumbled late in the contest. Lopez earned his fourth quality start of the campaign but actually saw his ERA rise from 1.34 to 1.54, highlighting how great he's been this season.     • Craig Kimbrel back in closer’s role for Orioles
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde mostly confirmed Monday that Craig Kimbrel is again Baltimore’s closer.

      Advice: It’s no surprise after Kimbrel picked up a clean save Sunday, but confirmation is always nice. MASN’s Steve Melewski quoted Hyde as saying: “Well yeah, I think so. Probably.     • Reynaldo López watches bullpen blow game in eighth
      Reynaldo López yielded two runs in 6 1/3 innings versus the Padres to take a no-decision in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

      Advice: López exited with a 5-1 lead in the seventh before one of his two inherited runners scored. That wasn’t bad, but then the Padres went on to score four runs off Joe Jiménez in the eighth to win the game. López still hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any start this season, but with the Braves not scoring like they did last year, his record stands at 2-1 after eight turns.     • Impressive in return to closer role
      Kimbrel pitched a clean ninth inning, striking out two to pick up a save Sunday against the Mariners.

      Advice: It appears Kimbrel has found his groove again, and he was rewarded with a save opportunity while posting his fourth consecutive appearance without allowing a hit or a walk. It was the first save since May 3 for Kimbrel, who had posted a 16.20 ERA and 4.50 WHIP over 3.1 innings in the six outings prior to this most recent four-game stretch.       Getting a chance to close for the first time since May 8, Craig Kimbrel struck out two in a perfect ninth Sunday against the Mariners.

      Advice: This was truly easing him back into the closer’s role; not only did he have a three-run lead, but he was getting the bottom third of the Mariners lineup. Kimbrel has allowed just one batter to reach in four scoreless innings since his May 8 outing knocked him out of the closer’s role for a spell.
