• Follow-up exam on June 5
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) will have a follow-up exam on June 5, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: That will be the four-week mark of Encarnacion-Strand's projected 4-to-6 week timetable as he recovers from a fracture in his right wrist, so it would appear he's not going to make it back on the early side of that timeline. Encarnacion-Strand would presumably require a rehab assignment before returning. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
  • Optioned to Triple-A
Vasquez was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Advice: Vasquez will head back to the minors after making three straight starts with the Padres. His big-league spot will go to Joe Musgrove (elbow), who's being activated from the 15-day injured list. In those three starts, Vasquez went 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA in 14.0 innings. • Lands on injured list
Beeter was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday with an unspecified injury, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.

Advice: It's unclear when Beeter suffered the injury, but he last pitched for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 15, when he struck out three and walked five over four scoreless innings. The right-hander will be unavailable for at least the next week, but it's unclear when he's expected to return. Rotowire.com Today, 10:56 am

  • In-game replacement in IL return
Crawford (oblique), activated from the injured list earlier in the day, entered Monday's win over the Yankees as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and remained in the game at shortstop, going 0-for-2.

Advice: Crawford struck out swinging in his pinch-hit appearance and subsequently flied out to center to close out the ninth. The veteran shortstop was logging his first game action since April 23, and given his in-game appearance and ability to play defense Monday, he's a likely candidate to return to the starting nine Tuesday. • Gets no run support in loss
Vasquez (0-3) took the loss against Atlanta in the second game of a doubleheader Monday, allowing three runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out two batters over six innings.

Advice: Vasquez yielded a season-high 10 hits, but he still managed his first quality start of the campaign. In fact, this was the first time through five starts that he's been able to complete more than five frames. The right-hander was by no means dominant with just two punchouts, but he managed to keep the Padres in the contest, though San Diego's offense was unable to provide any runs in support. Vasquez has posted a mediocre 5.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 21.2 innings, and he could be moved out of the rotation -- and potentially off the big-league roster -- with Joe Musgrove (elbow) slated to return from the injured list Tuesday. • Vasquez posts quality start Monday
Randy Vasquez allowed three runs in six innings and took the loss against the Braves on Monday.

Advice: Vasquez, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Juan Soto trade, really battled in this start. Despite allowing 10 hits and having an elevated pitch count in the early innings, he still managed to put up a quality start in a tough matchup against Atlanta on the road. This was also the longest start of Vasquez’ career. He lowered his ERA to 5.82 in five starts this year, though his xFIP is much lower at 4.45. It’s something for Vasquez to potentially build on even though he’s not usable in fantasy at the moment. The 25-year-old right-hander is scheduled to face the Yankees at home on Saturday.

  • Xander Bogaerts out with shoulder inflammation
The Padres are calling Xander Bogaerts’ injury left shoulder inflammation.

Advice: It’s an odd diagnosis, being that this was a sudden injury sustained while diving for a ball, but it’s what we’re left with after the Padres couldn’t initially find anything serious going on within the shoulder. He obviously was not included in the lineup for the second game of today’s doubleheader. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:16 pm

  • J.P. Crawford (oblique) activated by Mariners
Mariners activated SS J.P. Crawford from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Crawford’s pregame workout today was impressive enough to get him back on the roster tonight after his absence due to an oblique strain and a subsequent bruised hand, but he won’t return to the starting lineup until tomorrow. Dylan Moore will return to his utility role then after spending the last 3 1/2 weeks as a starting shortstop. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:47 pm

  • Activated but not starting Monday
The Mariners activated Crawford (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Mariners put Crawford through a full pregame workout Monday, which is surely the reason why he's not in the lineup. He will be available off the bench, though, before likely returning to the starting nine Tuesday. Dylan Moore will handle shortstop again Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:28 pm
