      Gil (3-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 10-3 rout of the Astros, allowing one run on one hits and four walks over six innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Kyle Tucker mashed a solo shot off Gil in the first inning, but the right-hander was unhittable after that despite some shaky control. He tossed 57 of 97 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound with his second straight quality start, the only two times in seven outings he's even lasted six innings.     • Luis Gil handles Astros in win on Tuesday
      Luis Gil allowed one run on one hit in six innings in a win over the Astros.

      Advice: Gil was effectively wild on Tuesday, which is something we’ve come to expect from the 25-year-old. He walked four on the day and had just a 42 percent zone rate; however, he also had a 23 percent whiff rate and struck out five batters. Much of Gil’s success came on the changeup which had a 40 percent whiff rate, while his four-seam fastball was his most effective strike pitch. At some point, Gil is not going to be able to keep walking this tightrope, but he has a 2.92 ERA on the season and has two solid outings coming up against the Rays and White Sox.     • José Berríos coughs up 8 runs in loss to Phillies
      José Berríos allowed eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

      Advice: Berríos was able to strike out seven on the day, compared to just two walks, and he allowed just three hard-hit balls all day. However, that led to four extra-base hits and two home runs, so the Phillies made the most of their contact. Berríos was able to post a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day and allowed an average exit velocity of 90.4 mph, but he put himself in tough spots by throwing just 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone. All in all, it feels like more of an off night for Berríos than the sign of any major regression. He now has a 2.85 ERA on the season and will get another tough test against the Orioles next week.       Kyle Finnegan recorded his 12th save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Finnegan pitched a perfect ninth inning to close out the Orioles in the 3-0 win. The Nationals closer is now 12-of-13 in save opportunities this season and is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities this month.       Trevor Williams struck out eight over five shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Williams got off to a strong start in this one, striking out eight of the first 15 batters he faced while allowing just one baserunner. It was a strong outing for Williams, whose eight strikeouts tied a career-high. He was pulled after 77 pitches, with short outings being par for the course for him this season. Williams lowered his ERA to 1.96 on the year and has allowed one earned run or less in five of his seven starts on the year.       Advice: Cole is scheduled to throw another bullpen session this weekend and is apparently looking at a mid-June return timetable at this point. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner should progress to facing hitters at some point in the coming weeks before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment.       Cole (elbow) completed a bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to throw another bullpen this weekend, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

      Advice: Cole is continuing to progress toward returning after throwing off a mound May 4 for the first time since being placed on the injured list in March. He tossed another bullpen session Tuesday without a setback and is expected to continue to ramp up his throwing efforts in the coming weeks.     • Grayson Rodriguez unlikely to require rehab start
      Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) continued playing catch on Tuesday.

      Advice: Rodriguez expressed optimism to reporters that he could return to Baltimore’s starting rotation following a minimum stay on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. It certainly doesn’t sound like there are any long-term concerns with the 24-year-old burgeoning ace.       Rodriguez (shoulder) "feels much better" and hopes to be reinstated once he becomes eligible May 15, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reported Tuesday.

      Advice: Rodriguez has battled inflammation in his shoulder throughout May. However, per Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com, his move to the 15-day IL was to prevent the issue from developing into anything more serious, and he could return to the O's without a rehab start.
