      Crochet (5-4) picked up the win Tuesday against Toronto, allowing two hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Crochet has tossed 17 consecutive scoreless innings and earned a victory in each of his last four starts. While he fanned fewer than six batters for the first time in five starts, the 25-year-old retired the first 13 batters he faced. Since his ERA peaked at 6.37 on April 24, Crochet has yielded three runs over 28.0 innings to lower his ERA to 3.75 overall. He's lined up to close out the two-start week Sunday against the Orioles.       Salvador Perez went 2-for-5 with one RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Tigers.

      Advice: The real story of the night was Bobby Witt Jr.'s two-homer, six RBI performance, but Perez also managed two hits, with his first coming on a single that scored Witt Jr. Perez now has 39 RBI on the season and has hit safely in seven straight games.     • Oneil Cruz sets Statcast record on 3 hits in win
      Oneil Cruz went 3-for-5 with one RBI in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

      Advice: All three of Cruz’s hits were blasted with a 121.5 mph double, a 120.4 mph single, and a 116.3 mph double. He’s now the first player in the Statcast era to have three hits in one game over 115 mph, and his 121.5 mph double is the hardest-hit ball in MLB action this year, topping the 120.4 mph single he hit earlier in the game today. That’s quite a performance. Cruz is 19-for-64 (.297) in May with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI.       Advice: The Rangers got the tying run to the plate with one out in the ninth after an error and a Leody Taveras base hit. However, Alvarado would proceed to strike out Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, picking up his ninth save in a 5-2 win. While the Phillies have utilized a modified committee approach to the ninth inning, the left-handed Alvarado has established himself as their preferred closing option.       José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in the Phillies’ 5-2 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Alvarado did allow a hit, but he also struck out two and was in no real danger in the inning as he picked up his ninth save of the year. Despite it seeming like the Phillies would go to a closer-by-committee situation earlier in the year, Alvarado has recorded four of the team’s six saves during the month and has now allowed eight hits while striking out six and walking none in 8 2/3 innings.       Jon Gray was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Phillies with right groin tightness.

      Advice: That explains why Gray was finished after just 75 pitches (50 strikes) over five frames in an abbreviated outing. The 32-year-old righty was charged with two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. The severity of the injury is a bit murky at the moment, but there should be some clarity on his status at some point in the near future.       Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Gray was removed from his start against the Phillies due to right groin tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Gray was able to get through five innings before exiting his start, allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four batters. Bochy didn't specify how severe Gray's injury is, so it remains unclear if the right-hander is at risk of missing his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday in Minnesota.       Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-3 win over the Tigers.

      Advice: It was a close game until the sixth inning, when Perez ignited a six-run rally for the Royals with his solo shot. The catcher has hit safely in six straight games, going 10-for-21 (.476) in that span. the homer was his first since May 3.
