• Nico Hoerner swipes two bases in return to lineup
Nico Hoerner went 1-for-4 with two steals Wednesday against the Rays in his return to the Cubs lineup.

Advice: Hoerner hadn’t started since suffering a hairline fracture in his hand Thursday. His two steals tonight gave him nine for the year, eight of which have come since May 1. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm

  • CJ Abrams leaves the yard in victory over Tigers
CJ Abrams homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Wednesday, propelling the Nationals to a 7-5 victory over the Tigers in Motown.

Advice: Abrams got the Nationals on the board with a game-tying 404-foot (104.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Reese Olson in the third inning. He then smacked an RBI double and scored on a run-scoring single off the bat of Jesse Winker during a three-run uprising in the fifth inning. With his two-hit attack, the dynamic 23-year-old shortstop is now slashing .248/.296/.472 with 11 homers, 34 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm

  • Jackson Merrill slugs walk-off homer to sink A’s
Jackson Merrill blasted two solo homers, including a game-winning blast in the ninth inning, powering the Padres to a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Merrill took Athletics fire-balling closer Mason Miller deep into the right-field corner for his fifth round-tripper of the season to send the Friars faithful home in walk-off fashion. The 21-year-old rookie center fielder also took Oakland starter Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning as part of his first career multi-homer performance. He’s caught fire over the last few weeks, batting .294 (30-for-105) with three homers and five steals over his past 30 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:27 pm
  • Back in lineup
Seager (hamstring) will serve as Texas' designated hitter and bat second Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

Advice: Seager hasn't played since he left last Wednesday's game against the Tigers due to a sore left hamstring, but he has now been given the green light to return to the lineup in a non-defensive role. The 30-year-old shortstop has tallied at least one base hit in 17 of his last 18 games and is slashing .354/.462/.800 with nine home runs and 15 RBI in that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:54 pm
  • Corey Seager (hamstring) rejoins Rangers’ lineup
Corey Seager (hamstring) returned to the Rangers’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Advice: Seager hasn’t played since leaving Wednesday’s game with a mild hamstring strain. It’s the first time that the 30-year-old superstar shortstop will play in Dodgers’ stadium as a visitor. He’s been terrific at the dish when healthy this season — slashing .271/.360/.472 with 13 homers and 30 RBI in just 57 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:51 pm
  • Back in action Wednesday
Hoerner (hand) will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Though Hoerner was diagnosed with a small fracture in his right hand over the weekend, he avoided a stint on the injured list and will make his return to the lineup after missing only four starts. Before his recent absence, Hoerner had gone 0-for-8 over his last three starts, and it may take a bit for him to regain full strength in his hand and recapture the exit velocities he had provided prior to suffering the injury. Fantasy managers in leagues with daily lineup moves may be best served leaving Hoerner on the bench until he resumes producing at a level that warrants keeping him active. • Zach McKinstry starting at shortstop again on WED
Zach McKinstry is playing shortstop and batting seventh for the Tigers on Wednesday against the Nationals.

Advice: This is now the second start at shortstop McKinstry has made against right-handed pitching since Javier Baez got hurt. It seems like the 29-year-old will get the first chance at filling the strong-side platoon while Baez is out. Since it’s unclear how long Baez will be out, but it’s expected to be more than 10 days, there’s a chance for McKinstry to carve out enough playing time to be relevant in AL-only formats. That might be it for now unless he starts running like he did last season when he stole 16 bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:57 am

  • Jordan Lawlar posts three hits, homers at Triple-A
Diamondbacks SS prospect Jordan Lawlar went 3-for-6 with a solo homer and three RBI on Tuesday in his season debut for Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Welcome back, Jordan. The 21-year-old top prospect, who made a late-season cameo last year with the Diamondbacks, is finally healthy after undergoing thumb surgery back in late March and looked impressive in his Triple-A debut following a handful of contests in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He’s one of the most intriguing prospects in the entire fantasy landscape and remains a top-15 overall prospect for dynasty league purposes. There’s a chance he’s back in Arizona at some point this summer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:53 am

  • Nico Hoerner (hand) gets into Tuesday’s contest
Nico Hoerner (hand) made an appearance as a defensive replacement during Tuesday’s loss to the Rays.

Advice: Hoerner appears likely to avoid a trip to the injured list as he attempts to play through a small fracture in his right hand. The 27-year-old second baseman was held out of the lineup on Tuesday for the fourth straight contest, but was able to come off the bench as a defensive replacement in the late innings. The biggest question for fantasy managers is whether the lingering hand issue will impact his offensive performance moving forward, even if he doesn’t wind up requiring a lengthy absence.
