    • Strong over 5.1 innings
Gausman (2-3) picked up the victory Saturday, tossing 5.1 shutout innings on three hits and two walks against the Nationals. He struck out eight.

Advice: The Nats made Gausman throw a season-high 112 pitches to get through his 5.1 frames, but the right-hander was able to keep them off the scoreboard. Gausman's eight strikeouts were his highest total this season, and he boasted a 48 percent whiff rate on his splitter. The righty's velocity remains down, but he's allowed just two earned runs over his last four starts and finally piled up some strikeouts in this one. Gausman is projected to face the Twins at home in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:10 pm
    • Kevin Gausman strikes out eight in win over Nats
Kevin Gausman struck out eight batters over 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the win against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Gausman has now put together four excellent starts after struggling through his first three. He scattered three hits and two walks, striking out a season-high eight batters on 14 whiffs. He pitched into the sixth, leaving with one out at 112 pitches. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 3.78 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 31/8 K/BB ratio across 33 1/3 innings into a start against the Twins in Toronto next Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:07 pm
    • Hunter Greene goes 5 2/3 scoreless for Reds
Hunter Greene blanked the Orioles for 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: Greene, who also pitched shutout ball last time out, lowered his ERA to 3.12. Still, the Reds are somehow 1-6 when he pitches this season, despite being 15-10 the rest of the time. Greene’s luck should even out at some point, and he seems like an every-week play in mixed leagues. Rotoworld Friday, 9:32 pm

    • Sharp again in no-decision
Greene did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing five hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Greene had to contend with some traffic Friday, though he'd ultimately make it through 5.2 innings unscathed. The right-hander fell an out shy of a quality start, though it's his second consecutive scoreless outing -- he blanked the Rangers over seven innings in his last start. Overall, Greene's 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB through 40.1 innings. He's tentatively lined up for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks in his next start. • Making rehab start Tuesday
Bello (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Bello resumed mound work this week as he comes back from right lat tightness and has now been cleared for game action. He's missed just two weeks of action, so Bello may need just the one rehab start if all goes well. That sets him up to return as soon as May 12 against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:37 am

    • Mason Miller silences Pirates in non-save spot
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Miller got the call to protect a four-run lead in the final frame after needing 16 pitches to close out Tuesday’s victory less than 24 hours ago. He got Jack Suwinski to ground out and fanned Henry Davis before coaxing a game-ending ground out from Ke’Bryan Hayes. He averaged 100.8 mph on his fastball and needed just 10 pitches to spin a perfect frame. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has reeled off 12 consecutive scoreless appearances since April 2, and has converted eight saves to go along with a microscopic 1.26 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings of work. Simply put, he’s one of the best relievers in baseball already. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:07 pm

    • Zach Eflin gives up three runs in defeat
Zach Eflin dropped to 1-4 after giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Eflin struck out six and walked none. The big blow was a William Contreras two-run double on a pitch a good four inches inside with two outs in the second. Another batter likely would have fouled that one off, but Contreras is just too good. Fortunately, Eflin won’t face anyone like him with the White Sox coming to town next week. • Throws bullpen session
Bello (lat) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: It's his first time throwing off a mound since he was shut down last week with right lat tightness. Bello could throw a two-inning simulated game next, with a rehab outing potentially being on the docket for next Tuesday. If Bello needs just one rehab start, he could be in line to return from the 15-day injured list as soon as May 12. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:39 pm

    • Falls to Milwaukee
Eflin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Eflin allowed a two-run double to William Contreras in the third inning before allowing a solo homer to Willy Adames in the sixth. The 30-year-old Eflin has now been stuck with a loss in consecutive starts -- he's allowed seven earned runs over 11.2 innings in that span. Eflin's ERA is now up to 4.17 with a 1.17 WHIP and 36:4 K:BB in seven starts this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against the White Sox.
