    • Roberts hopeful for minimum IL stint for Phillips
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sunday that the team is hopeful that Evan Phillips (hamstring) will only have a minimum stay on the injured list.

Advice: Phillips was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and placed on the injured list before Sunday’s game against Atlanta. The right-hander will miss at least two weeks, but it doesn’t sound like a (relatively) long-term injury for the 29-year-old closer. While Phillips is out, Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen will be the favorites for save chances, with Hudson the most likely to pitch the ninth in the coming days. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:46 am

    • Out with hamstring strain
The Dodgers placed Phillips on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right hamstring strain, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Advice: The right-hander presumably suffered the injury during Friday's appearance against Atlanta, when he struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning amid a 2-2 tie. Manager Dave Roberts said Phillips' injury is a Grade 1 strain, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, so the absence may not be a lengthy one. Daniel Hudson is the likely favorite to fill in at closer for the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:00 am

    • Dodgers place Phillips on IL with hamstring injury
Dodgers placed RHP Evan Phillips on the 15-day injured list with a hamstring strain.

Advice: This is a substantial loss to the Dodgers’ bullpen and for fantasy managers who roster Phillips. The right-hander will be out of action for at least two weeks, and managers will want to make sure to follow for further updates on his status. Blake Treinen was activated off the injured list in the corresponding transaction, and he’s someone who could see save chances with Phillips out. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:59 am

    • Yennier Cano gets two-out save Saturday vs. Reds
Yennier Cano notched a two-out save on Saturday against the Reds.

Advice: Cano got the call to record the final two outs of Saturday’s low-scoring win at Great American Ball Park after veteran Craig Kimbrel gave up a one-out RBI single to Spencer Steer that put the potential tying run at third base. Cano wound up walking Tyler Stephenson before striking out Christian Encarnacion-Strand and getting Jeimer Candelario to fly out to end the contest. It’s clear that Kimbrel isn’t in a good place right now, and could still be battling a lingering back issue, which opens the door for Cano to keep picking up save chances moving forward. • Earns first save of 2024
Cano allowed one walk but retired the final two batters of Saturday's game against the Reds to earn his first save of the season.

Advice: Craig Kimbrel was pulled from the game after allowing two hits and a walk in the bottom of the ninth. Cano entered and walked the first batter he faced to load the bases, but the 30-year-old ultimately worked his way out of it with a strikeout and a flyout. Kimbrel earned the save in Friday's game but had back-to-back blown saves to end April and has been nursing a back issue recently. If Kimbrel needs some time to get right, Cano would presumably step into the closer's role after he recorded eight saves and 31 holds a season ago. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:30 pm

    • Collects easy save
Helsley tossed a perfect inning to earn a save over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Helsely retired the 2-3-4 hitters in the White Sox lineup on just eight pitches to secure the 3-0 win. Since blowing a save chance in his season debut, Helsley has converted 11 consecutive opportunities while allowing one earned run over 16 innings. He owns a 1.59 ERA with a terrific 19:2 K:BB this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:43 pm

    • Ryan Helsley hurls scoreless ninth for save
Ryan Helsley picked up a save Friday against the White Sox without allowing a run in his inning of work.

Advice: Helsley didn’t give up a hit, didn’t give up a walk, and didn’t pick up a strikeout. The right-hander needed just eight pitches — seven of those strikes — against a Chicago team that looked like it wanted to be anywhere else. Helsley has already saved 11 games, and he lowered his ERA to 1.59 with the scoreless frame. Rotoworld Friday, 7:45 pm

    • Nails down save No. 10
Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 10th save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Advice: All 10 pitches Helsley fired were strikes, and he hit triple digits on the radar gun with three of them. The right-hander has been lights out to begin the season, converting 10 of 11 save chances with a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB through 16 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:08 pm

    • Ryan Helsley nets 10th save Tuesday vs. Tigers
Ryan Helsley tossed a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday against the Tigers to collect his major league-leading 10th save of the season.

Advice: Helsley got the call to protect a slim one-run margin in the final frame after St. Louis stormed ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the frame and needed just 10 pitches (10 strikes) to slam the door. He’s converted 10 of his 11 save opportunities this season and continues rolling. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:14 pm
