      Gore (4-5) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing six earned runs on seven hits and four walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Gore loaded the bases with one out in the fifth inning before departing, unfortunately reliever Dylan Floro allowed all three runners to score, adding three earned runs to Gore's stat line. Monday's outing was very uncharacteristic for the southpaw, who recorded a season-low two strikeouts and allowed more than two earned runs for the first time since April 19. After tonight's rough outing, the 25-year-old sports a 3.57 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched.       Skubal did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Skubal surrendered a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien in the first inning but held the Rangers in check over the next five and left the mound in a 1-1 tie. Skubal allowed at least one baserunner in each inning, but he was still able to earn a quality start despite not having his best stuff. Through 12 starts, Skubal, who has not walked more than two batters in any game this season, has posted a sparkling 1.97 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 86:13 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a home matchup against the Brewers on Sunday.       Tarik Skubal allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Skubal gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six. He managed to earn a quality start for the ninth time in 12 starts this season. Skubal allowed a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien, but that was the only run the Rangers could muster against him. His ERA is now 1.97 as he continues to push for the AL Cy Young award.       Wheeler (7-3) earned the win Monday against Milwaukee, allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Wheeler nearly pitched seven shutout innings, but he surrendered a solo home run to former teammate Rhys Hoskins with two outs in the seventh inning. Wheeler turned in his fourth consecutive quality start Monday, bringing his season total to 10. Wheeler has pitched to a 2.23 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 91 strikeouts in 80.2 innings this season, all of which rank top 10 in the league.     • MacKenzie Gore allows six runs in loss to Mets
      MacKenzie Gore was shelled for six runs over 4 1/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Mets.

      Advice: Gore struggled to find the strike zone, and also failed to generate swinging strikes in this one, which turned out to be a pretty toxic combination. He wound up handing out a season-high four free passes and also surrendered seven hits, including a towering 420-foot solo shot to Mets rookie slugger Mark Vientos. He finished with a season-low two strikeouts in arguably his worst outing of the season. He’ll aim for better results his next time out on Saturday against the division-rival Braves.     • Zack Wheeler tosses seven innings to beat Brewers
      Zack Wheeler yielded one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Wheeler carried a shutout bid into the seventh inning before coughing up a solo shot to former teammate Rhys Hoskins and wound up requiring a season-high 114 pitches (67 strikes) to navigate seven frames. He finished with six strikeouts and also handed out a trio of free passes. The 34-year-old right-hander has been one of the most consistent upper-echelon fantasy starters in the game for the last few years and hasn’t skipped a beat this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 13 outings. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.23 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 91/26 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt next Tuesday against the Red Sox at historic Fenway Park.     • Eyeing return next week
      Manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Alvarez (thumb) won't join the Mets for their two-game series in London with the Phillies this weekend, but the catcher could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list June 11 for the start of the club's homestand, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: On the shelf since April 20 with a fractured left thumb that eventually required surgery, Alvarez is closing in on a return after he initiated a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton this past weekend. He made three starts at catcher with Binghamton and went 2-for-8 with a home run and two walks, but the Mets want him to pick up more reps in the minors before he comes off the IL. Alvarez is likely to either stick around at Binghamton or shift his assignment to Triple-A Syracuse in the coming days, and if he escapes without any setbacks, he should settle back in as the Mets' primary backstop beginning next week.       The Mets have decided against activating Francisco Alvarez in time for this weekend’s series in London.

      Advice: Alvarez has thus far played in three rehab games as he returns from a torn thumb ligament, going 2-for-8 with a homer. The Mets believe it makes more sense for him to stay in the U.S. and continue his rehab than to go to London for two games in five days. If all goes well, Alvarez could be activated next Tuesday.       Soler went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees.

      Advice: This was Soler's first multi-hit effort since May 22, and he went just 4-for-27 over the eight contests in between. The 32-year-old briefly got a look at leadoff in May, but he's since returned to the middle of the Giants' order.
