Berrios (8-6) picked up the win Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout across five innings.

Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard until the fifth inning, where he unwound and allowed three singles, a hit-by-pitch and a three-run home run. Still, Berrios was able to snare a second straight win as the Blue Jays had compiled seven runs prior to the fifth. The 30-year-old has been shaky as of late, owning a 5.97 ERA with 17 strikeouts and eight home runs allowed over his last five starts. He's scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday. • Shohei Ohtani hits 27th homer in win over D-backs
Shohei Ohtani clobbered his 27th home run of the season on Tuesday night as the Dodgers rallied to defeat the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ohtani, who told reporters afterwards that he’s unlikely to participate in the upcoming All-Star Home Run Derby, led off the home half of the first inning with a double and scored the game’s first run on an RBI double off the bat of Teoscar Hernandez. He then flipped the game in the Dodgers’ favor with a mammoth 433-foot (112.0 mph exit velocity) two-run shot off of Justin Martinez in the seventh inning that made it a 4-3 ballgame. Ohtani finished the night 3-for-5 and is now slashing an absurd .320/.402/.646 with 27 homers, 64 RBI and 16 swipes. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:18 pm

    • Homer among three hits in win
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ohtani was a triple shy of the cycle in another impressive game from atop the order. Over his last 20 games, the superstar has slugged 12 homers and driven in 23 runs while batting .351 (26-for-74). He's been outstanding all year and seems to be getting better with his recent performance. Ohtani has a .320/.402/.646 slash line with 27 long balls, 64 RBI, 69 runs scored and 16 stolen bases through 83 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:09 pm

    • Continues strong play
Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Bellinger has started to get going after a relatively slow start to the season. He was batting .226 through the end of April but turned that around by hitting .290 in May and .279 in June. Bellinger is now off to a solid start in July, and after a nice bounce-back effort in his first season with the Cubs last year following a disappointing 2022 campaign, the 28-year-old appears primed for a strong finish to 2024. • Bellinger has two-hit night vs. Phillies
Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Bellinger doubled in the second inning to score Nico Hoerner and give the Cubs their first run of the game. It would be the only run the Cubs would score through the first eight innings before Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run homer in a ninth-inning rally. Bellinger continues to stay hot since having his nine-game hit streak ended last week, as he’s now hit safely in three-straight games and is slashing a solid .270/.329/.421 on the season. • Jose Berrios falters late in win over Astros
Jose Berrios allowed five runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard for the first four innings, but the fifth inning was a bit of a disaster. The inning started with a hit by pitch and then a walk and then was followed by two singles and a home run to push five runs across the plate and end his day. The veteran has a 3.63 ERA on the year, but his underlying metrics suggest some regression is coming. Still, he should be able to survive a showdown against the Mariners this weekend. • D-backs activate Gabriel Moreno for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated C Gabriel Moreno from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Moreno is officially back for Tuesday’s series opener against the division-rival Dodgers following a nearly two-week absence due to a left thumb sprain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:38 pm
    • Jordan Montgomery hits IL with knee inflammation
Diamondbacks placed LHP Jordan Montgomery on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 29, with right knee inflammation.

Advice: Arizona had to come up with something here since Montgomery badly needs to press the reset button on the metaphorical console. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that injury occurred during a bullpen session over the weekend and he doesn’t expect it to be an extended absence. The 31-year-old southpaw’s Arizona debut has gone about as poorly as one could imagine with a bloated 6.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 45/23 K/BB ratio across 65 2/3 innings (13 starts). The hope here for fantasy managers is that some time out of the spotlight to work on things is able to help him get back on track. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:34 pm
    • Lands on injured list
The Diamondbacks placed Montgomery on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to June 29, due to right knee inflammation.

Advice: Montgomery was tagged for eight runs (four earned) during his start Thursday against the Twins, though it's unclear if the injury played a role in those results. The veteran left-hander will be eligible to be reinstated for the final game before the All-Star break July 14 versus the Blue Jays, but a return after the Midsummer Classic likely more realistic.
