    • Makes season debut
Sewald allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over one inning in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Reds.

Advice: Sewald made his season debut Tuesday in a non-save situation -- a low-key introduction after spending the first six-plus weeks on the injured list due to an oblique injury. He allowed a home run to Tyler Stephenson while mopping up in the ninth inning. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that Sewald would reclaim the closer's role from Kevin Ginkel. Rotowire.com Today, 3:50 am
    • Big day at plate in win
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Alonso finally showed some signs of life at the plate Tuesday night after breaking out of a slump. Before his two-RBI double in the fifth, Alonso had one hit over his last 41 at-bats. He later followed things up with a huge insurance home run in the eighth to put the Mets up 7-4. Alonso is now slashing just .212/.297/.445 with nine homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs and a 14:32 BB:K in 155 plate appearances, though Tuesday's outburst showed some welcoming signs that his offense could be emerging once again. • Approaching rehab assignment
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Miller (shoulder) is coming up on a minor-league rehab assignment "pretty quickly," Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Miller threw a bullpen session Monday, his second since being placed on the injured list with inflammation in his right shoulder April 13. Roberts noted that the right-hander's velocity was "good" in the session and sounded optimistic about Miller's progress in his recovery from the injury. The second-year hurler will make at least one minor-league rehab start, though it's still unclear how many more bullpens he'll throw before he reaches that point. • Pete Alonso homers, doubles in Mets win
Pete Alonso went 2-for-5 with a homer, double, and three RBI in the Mets’ win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Advice: Alonso broke out in a big way against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals after a 2-for-44 lull. His two-run double gave the Mets the lead and his eighth inning homer added a valuable insurance run as Adam Ottavino ran into trouble in the ninth. All three of the balls Alonso put in play were hit over 105 MPH exit velocity. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:21 pm

    • Bobby Miller throws another bullpen session
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw another bullpen session earlier this week.

Advice: Miller is expected to get in another throwing session later this week before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has been out since mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation. It sounds like he’ll be ready to return to the Dodgers’ starting rotation before the end of May. • Taking swings in cage
Manager Scott Servais said Tuesday that Crawford (oblique) took swings in the batting cages at the team's complex in Arizona, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Servais added that Crawford will progress to hitting on the field with the hopes of swinging at full strength this weekend. If the 29-year-old shortstop is able to do that without any problems, he will embark on a brief rehab assignment before returning to the Mariners' lineup. Crawford had gone 5-for-16 with four RBI across his last four games before landing on the injured list April 25. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:03 pm

    • D-backs activate Paul Sewald for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated RHP Paul Sewald from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Sewald has been sidelined since the beginning of the regular season with a left oblique strain. The 33-year-old veteran, who finished with a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP with both the Mariners and Diamondbacks last season, will slide back as the D-backs’ closer which puts an end to Kevin Ginkel’s brief stint in the role. • Officially back from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Sewald (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander has been sidelined by an oblique strain but is ready to rejoin the team following three rehab appearances. Manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Sewald will immediately reclaim the closer role, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Kevin Ginkel -- who has tallied five saves with a 2.57 ERA in 14 appearances -- will return to a setup role. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:39 pm
    • Absent from Tuesday's lineup
Bohm is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It's Bohm's first day off since April 15. Kody Clemens will handle third base Tuesday while Bohm grabs a seat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:04 pm
