      Nick Pivetta (elbow) struck out five and gave up four runs over three innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester.

      Advice: As expected, Pivetta threw 62 pitches (36 strikes) in his rehab outing and figures to be ready to take the ball next week against the Braves, most likely on Tuesday, down at Truist Park.       Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Orioles.

      Advice: Torres led off the sixth inning with a 418-foot shot to center field off Keegan Akin, cutting the Yankees' deficit to 7-2.       Advice: There’s significant concern that Yoshida could wind up requiring an extended absence as the Red Sox continue gathering medical information after he landed on the injured list earlier this week with a left thumb strain. The 30-year-old slugger, who has transitioned to designated hitter almost exclusively this season, underwent an MRI earlier this week and the club has declined to provide an update on his status.       Advice: Garrett finished with three strikeouts, built up his pitch count to 61 (33 strikes) and averaged 90.7 mph in his likely final tune-up before rejoining Miami’s starting rotation mix for his season debut. The 26-year-old hurler has been out since spring training due to a left shoulder impingement and a setback after experiencing a “dead arm” phase.
