    • Braxton Garrett makes likely final rehab start
Braxton Garrett (shoulder) fired five shutout innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Garrett finished with three strikeouts, built up his pitch count to 61 (33 strikes) and averaged 90.7 mph in his likely final tune-up before rejoining Miami’s starting rotation mix for his season debut. The 26-year-old hurler has been out since spring training due to a left shoulder impingement and a setback after experiencing a “dead arm” phase. He’ll likely take the ball on Monday against the Dodgers in his season debut, barring an unexpected development. Rotoworld Today, 1:03 pm

    • Five scoreless in rehab start
Garrett (shoulder) allowed one hit and three walks while striking out three over five scoreless innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Advice: Garrett got his pitch count up to 61 and averaged 90.7 miles per hour with his sinker, which is right in line with his normal velocity. Wednesday's outing should be his final tune-up before he returns from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut with the Marlins. Garrett, who has been sidelined with a left shoulder impingement and more recently went through a "dead arm" phase, tentatively lines up to start Monday versus the Dodgers on the road. • Could return next week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) could rejoin the rotation next week during the team's May 7-8 series in Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Pivetta is slated to make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, and it appearance that will be the lone appearance before he rejoins the Red Sox' rotation. The right-hander has been on the shelf since early April with a right elbow flexor strain. Pivetta was excellent before getting hurt, allowing just one run with a 13:1 K:BB over 11 frames in his first two starts. Rotowire.com Today, 10:43 am

    • Kodai Senga tabbed for live bullpen on Saturday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) is scheduled to throw another live bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: Senga faced live hitters on Monday without any issues, and he’ll repeat the process once again on Saturday. If all goes well there, he could be ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment. Barring any setbacks, he plans to be ready to rejoin the Mets’ rotation as soon as he’s eligible to do so on May 27. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:31 pm

    • Nick Pivetta making rehab start on Thursday
Nick Pivetta (elbow) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start on Thursday.

Advice: Pivetta is targeting an early-May return to Boston’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back on April 9 with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The 31-year-old righty is only expected to require one rehab outing before returning. It’s unclear whether he’ll have any initial workload restrictions yet. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:38 pm

    • Making another rehab start
Garrett (shoulder) will make a rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Jacksonville before potentially returning from the 15-day injured list, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.comreports.

Advice: Garrett has spent all season on the shelf while recovering from a left shoulder impingement, and while he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery from that injury, he did experience a case of "dead arm" following an April 15 bullpen session. The issue prompted the Marlins to temporarily pause Garrett's rehab assignment before he returned to action last Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville and allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out four over three innings. Garrett tossed 59 pitches in that outing, so the Marlins will likely want him to get stretched out to around 75 pitches before inserting him into the big-league rotation. • Hits mid-90s in bullpen
Senga (shoulder) reached the mid-90s with his fastball during Monday's bullpen against live hitters and used all of his pitches in the session, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Mets have been very deliberate so far with Senga's recovery from a shoulder capsule strain, but the organization's patience seems to be paying off. While the right-hander feels he will be back in the big-league rotation right around when he's first eligible to come off the IL on May 27, general manager David Stearns wouldn't sign off on that timeline, indicating Monday that he couldn't say whether Senga would be back in late May or early June. The 31-year-old is set to face live hitters two more times before beginning a rehab assignment around May 11. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:06 am

    • Griffin Canning gives up four runs to Phillies
Griffin Canning yielded four runs and five walks in five innings Monday against the Phillies.

Advice: Canning managed just one strikeout and four missed swings tonight. There still might be some hope for him if he recovers the two mph he’s lost since last season, but he’s not a very good bet at the moment. Rotoworld Monday, 10:21 pm
    • Walks five in no-decision
Canning allowed four runs on three hits and five walks over five innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out one during the win over Philadelphia.

Advice: Canning was tagged with three runs in the first inning but held the Phillies off the score sheet until they pushed across another run in the fifth. He threw just 44 of 86 pitches for strikes and set a new season high with five free passes. Canning had walked three batters over his previous three starts (14.1 innings). His ERA sits at 7.45 with a 21:12 K:BB through 29 frames. Canning is projected to start in Cleveland this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:38 pm
