    • Yields eight runs in loss
Morton (3-2) took the loss Monday against Washington, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The 40-year-old Morton allowed a career-high 12 hits in this start as the Nationals laced eight singles, three doubles and one homer. However, he also managed to generate an impressive 18 whiffs en route to his seven punchouts. Overall, the Atlanta veteran owns a 4.29 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 59:23 K:BB in 56.2 innings this season. Morton is currently slated to face Oakland at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:04 pm

    • Morton hit hard in loss against the Nationals Monday
Charlie Morton allowed eight runs in 5 ⅔ innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Morton allowed 12 hits, walked two and struck out seven. Despite allowing four runs in the first inning, the Braves let Morton work through it and the Nationals offense didn’t let up as he had his worst start of the season. His ERA increased from 3.35 to 4.29. The 40-year-old right-hander will look to turn the page in his next start against the Athletics at home this weekend.

    • Absent from lineup
Diaz is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Seattle.

Advice: Victor Caratini will do the catching for Framber Valdez. Diaz -- who had started the last three games and five of the last six -- has just a .501 OPS in May. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:10 pm

    • Fans six in victory
Irvin (5-2) picked up the win in Monday's 11-3 victory over Boston, scattering four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six and did not allow a run.

Advice: The 30-year-old southpaw was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and matching his season best with six strikeouts. The three walks were uncharacteristic for Irvin, who allowed just one free pass over his previous 24.1 innings pitched. After allowing nine earned runs over his first two starts of the season, Irvin has yielded just seven earned runs over his past eight starts, good for a 1.55 ERA in that span. He will look to keep it rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for this weekend in Tampa. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:06 pm

    • George Springer homers in victory over White Sox
George Springer went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Monday, leading the Blue Jays to a 5-1 victory over the White Sox.

Advice: Springer set the tone early for Toronto with a second-inning blast off White Sox rookie Nick Nastrini. It was just his fourth round-tripper of the season and first time he’s gone deep since April 24. It’s been a down season offensively for the 34-year-old veteran as he holds a lackluster .570 OPS through 47 contests. Rotoworld Monday, 1:56 pm
    • Cole Irvin tosses five frames to beat Red Sox
Cole Irvin spun five shutout innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Irvin was staked to an early lead and was able to cruise to a relatively easy victory, limiting Boston’s lineup to just four hits over five frames of work. He struck out six and also handed out a trio of free passes. The 30-year-old lefty still isn’t missing a ton of bats, but he’s been effective in his last couple outings following a rocky start to the year. He’ll remain in Baltimore’s starting rotation mix with both John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the shelf. He’ll bring a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36/11 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays. • Steven Kwan will start in Triple-A on Tuesday
According to Guardians manager Stephen Vogt, Steven Kwan will start in left field for Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Advice: Vogt said the plan is for Kwan to play 6-8 innings in the field. If Kwan were to do that and come out feeling good, he might only need one or two more starts before the Guardians feel good about activating him from the IL. That could mean that Jonathan Rodriguez heads back to Triple-A. Rotoworld Monday, 12:00 pm

    • Down in seven spot Monday
Springer will start in right field and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the White Sox.

Advice: It's the lowest spot in the batting order Springer has ever occupied during his 11-year major-league career. Springer is slashing just .145/.203/.177 so far in May and is 1-for-17 at the dish over his last five contests. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:02 am
    • Locked in to start Monday
Irvin will start Monday's game against the Red Sox in Baltimore, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: As expected, Irvin will draw back into the rotation as a replacement for John Means (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Though he made his last two appearances in relief, Irvin shouldn't be in line for any major workload restrictions Monday after he covered 3.1 innings out of the bullpen last Wednesday against the Cardinals. Over his prior seven starts with Baltimore this season, Irvin went 4-1 with a 2.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB in 40.1 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:25 am
