    • Jackson Merrill goes hitless Wednesday in victory
Jackson Merrill went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Don’t look now, but Merrill has gone 0-for-19 in six contests over the last week. The 21-year-old top prospect looked extremely impressive at the outset of the season in his Padres debut, but has hit a frosty stretch at the dish of late, which also coincides with a nagging groin issue that he’s been playing through. It’s entirely possible he’s not close to 100 percent at the moment, which is impacting his on-field results. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
    • Jackson Merrill not in lineup Monday vs. Reds
Jackson Merrill is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Merrill returned to the lineup from his groin injury on Saturday and also played Sunday, so this appears to be a day of maintenance for the 21-year-old. Jose Azocar will play center and hit eighth Monday. Rotoworld Monday, 3:52 pm
    • Steals eighth bag
Betts went 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 31-year-old extended his current hitting streak to seven games with his fourth straight multi-hit performance, and he also swiped a bag for the third straight contest. Betts is having a monster start to the season, slashing .391/.489/.661 through 115 plate appearances with six homers, eight steals, 23 RBI and 29 runs, and while it's early, he's firmly on pace for the second 30-30 campaign of his career. • Mookie Betts collects three hits against Blue Jays
Mookie Betts went 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base on Saturday to lead the Dodgers to a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Betts opened the game with a triple off Yusei Kikuchi and scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. He later drove in a run with a base hit in the fourth. Betts added a single in the ninth and stole second for his eighth steal of the season. The 31-year-old star is slashing an incredible .391/.489/.661 with six homers, 29 runs scored, and 23 RBI across 137 plate appearances. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:05 pm

    • Jackson Merrill (groin) returns to action Saturday
Jackson Merrill (groin) returned to the Padres’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Merrill missed each of the previous two games due to minor tightness in his right groin. He’s right back out there on Saturday though, starting in center field and batting eighth against Ranger Suarez and the Phillies. The 21-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting an impressive .318/.378/.409 with a homer, 12 RBI and four stolen bases in his first 27 games in the big leagues. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:20 pm
    • Back in action Saturday
Merrill (groin) is starting in center field and batting eighth Saturday against the Phillies.

Advice: Groin tightness has prevented Merrill from playing in the Padres' last two games, but he is seemingly feeling better heading into Saturday's contest. The 21-year-old is 5-for-18 with four RBI across his last five games, though all five of his hits in that span have been singles. Rotowire.com Saturday, 1:55 pm
    • Not starting Friday
Merrill (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Merrill was taken out of the lineup ahead of Thursday's loss to the Rockies as a precaution, and he was expected to be back Friday, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. It appears the groin injury is still lingering, however, and the rookie outfielder will not start for a second consecutive game. With Merrill out of the lineup, Jose Azocar will start in center field, Jurickson Profar will be in left field and Manny Machado will make his return from his paternity leave to start at third base. • Jackson Merrill (groin) remains out of lineup
Jackson Merrill (groin) remained out of the Padres’ starting lineup for Friday night’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: The 21-year-old outfielder had portrayed optimism that him being held out of the lineup on Thursday was a precautionary measure and that he wouldn’t be forced to miss any extended time. Hopefully that’s still the case, but it’s a bit discouraging to see him held out once more. Jose Azocar will start in his place in center field and will bat ninth against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Friday night. Rotoworld Friday, 2:26 pm
    • Reaches three times, swipes base
Betts went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and a stolen base against the Nationals in Thursday's 2-1 victory.

Advice: Betts scored the decisive run in the contest by walking, swiping second base and crossing the plate on a Freddie Freeman double in the eighth inning. Betts seems to be running more frequently so far this season -- the stolen base was his sixth of the campaign through 27 contests, putting him well on pace to reach 20 steals for the first time since 2018. That has to be sweet music to his fantasy managers' ears, and Betts is paying huge dividends in other areas as well, slashing .374/.477/.636 with six homers, 21 RBI and 27 runs.
