      Advice: Ruiz returned after a one-game absence due to a wrist injury he suffered Saturday and was able to contribute an RBI for the third consecutive contest. The 25-year-old outfielder has demonstrated a slight uptick in pop during the first month-plus of the season and appears to have moved past the wrist issue, given he drew the start in left field Monday.       Advice: Tatis helped generate San Diego's first run, reaching on a leadoff single in the sixth inning, advancing to second on another single, then taking part in a double steal with Jake Cronenworth before both players scored on a Jurickson Profar hit. Tatis has been somewhat quiet at the plate this season, but he's still been moderately productive with a .248/.327/.442 slash line, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs and five stolen bases through 168 plate appearances.       Kirby Yates earned his sixth save with a hitless ninth Monday against the Athletics.

      Advice: After settling for a win in a two-inning outing on Sunday, Yates was back closing tonight and had an easy time versus the A’s. David Roberson also pitched in a second straight game tonight, so the Rangers might need to think outside of the box if they have another lead Monday.       Yates picked up a save against the A's on Monday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning of work.

      Advice: Yates got the ball with Texas holding a two-run lead in the ninth inning and walked the second batter he faced to bring the tying run to the plate. However, the veteran reliever got Brett Harris to line into a double play to end the contest and secure his sixth save. Yates still hasn't given up a run this season, and he's yielded just three hits over 15 innings.       Justin Steele fired 4 2/3 shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Padres.

      Advice: Steele limited San Diego’s offense to just three hits and one walk, notching a pair of strikeouts, in his return at Wrigley Field following a five-weeks absence due to a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old ace averaged nearly 92 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and got his pitch count up to 68 (43 strikes) before being lifted in the fifth inning.       Steele allowed three hits and a walk over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out two during the loss to San Diego.

      Advice: Steele made his first start since straining his hamstring during his Opening Day outing. He showed no signs of rust but was clearly on a limit, as he threw only 68 pitches. He gave up one extra-base hit but otherwise kept San Diego's bats quiet. Steele has given up one run through 9.1 innings in two starts this season.       Castillo (3-5) yielded three runs on three hits over 6.2 innings Monday, striking out seven and taking a loss against the Twins.

      Advice: Castillo fired four shutout frames before the Twins broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. He later was charged with two more runs in the seventh. Entering Monday's start, Castillo had turned in four straight outings with two or fewer earned runs allowed. He's factored into the decision in each of his eight starts and snapped his three-game winning streak Monday. Despite the up-and-down start to his season, Castillo has registered a solid 3.54 ERA with a 56:11 K:BB through 48.1 innings.
