• Ready for rehab assignment
Bae (wrist) has been sent to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin a rehab assignment, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Bae was still with the Pirates in Pittsburgh Wednesday, so his first rehab game with Indianapolis figures to come Thursday. The utility player has been sidelined since early June with a sprained right wrist. Given the short absence, Bae shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before being activated. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Taking seat Wednesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Schneider will retreat to the bench after he started in each of the past three games while going 2-for-12 with a solo home run, a double and two walks. With Schneider out of the lineup, the Blue Jays will open up a spot in the outfield for Kevin Kiermaier, who will be flanked by Daulton Varsho in left field and George Springer in right field. • Bryan Reynolds crushes go-ahead homer vs. Reds
Bryan Reynolds launched a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning on Wednesday, lifting the Pirates to a 1-0 victory over the Reds.

Advice: Reynolds snapped a scoreless stalemate by taking Reds reliever Nick Martinez deep to left-center field with two outs in the eighth inning. It was his 10th round-tripper of the season and wound up being the lone tally for either side in a throwback pitcher’s duel on a sizzling-hot, 87-degree afternoon at PNC Park. The 29-year-old outfielder is batting .343 (24-for-70) with three homers, 10 RBI and one steal in 17 games since the outset of June. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Alek Thomas’s rehab assignment on hold
Alek Thomas’s rehab assignment is again on hold as he deals with soreness, but he could resume playing in games this weekend.

Advice: Thomas has had a tough time making his way back from a hamstring injury suffered March 31. He had a significant setback on his original rehab assignment in early May, and while this doesn’t seem to be nearly as serious, his body continues to hold him back. Thomas last played for the Rookie ACL Diamondbacks on Monday, going 3-for-3 with a double. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

  • Rehab assignment paused
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Thomas' (hamstring) rehab assignment has been paused due to "general soreness," Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Lovullo added that he's "very" optimistic Thomas will be able to resume the rehab assignment later this week, so it would appear this isn't a significant setback. Thomas had a bigger setback back in early May with his left hamstring, an injury which has kept him on the shelf since early April. The goal has been for Thomas to be activated June 25 at the start of a homestand, but that date might be pushed back a bit now even if he's able to resume playing rehab games this weekend. • Sent back to Norfolk
The Orioles optioned Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Advice: Stowers posted a respectable .763 OPS over his five-week stay with the Orioles, but the club simply didn't have regular playing time available for him. He had started in just one of Baltimore's last nine games, so Baltimore will send him back to Norfolk so that he can see steadier at-bats. Utility man Nick Maton was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 10:18 am

  • Kyle Stowers gets sent down by Orioles
Orioles optioned OF Kyle Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Stowers loses his roster spot because Juan Soto ran into Jordan Westburg last night and the Orioles don’t want to play down an infielder. Stowers was barely playing anyway, having totaled 36 plate appearances in five weeks with the club. He hit .286/.278/.486. Rotoworld Today, 10:10 am

  • Not in Washington lineup
Senzel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Senzel is hitless over his last five games, so he will be given a day off to regroup. Trey Lipscomb will start at third base in Senzel's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 am

  • Smacks homer Tuesday
Donovan went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Donovan has gone 15-for-51 (.294) over his last 13 games, adding two homers and seven RBI in that span. The 27-year-old got a rare start at third base Tuesday with Nolan Arenado taking a day off, though Donovan has found consistent playing time between left field and second base for much of the year. He's at a .247/.319/.380 slash line with six homers, 32 RBI, 32 runs scored and one stolen base over 67 games. Rotowire.com Today, 9:56 am
