• Start pushed back
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Gallen (hamstring) won't start Friday as scheduled in an effort to provide him extra rest, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander was originally set to start Wednesday, but Tuesday's starter Jordan Montgomery was pushed back a day since the start time was delayed two hours. Gallen apparently isn't having any issues with the hamstring injury that surfaced in his previous start, but Lovullo has still decided to give his ace some extra rest. The earliest Gallen will take the mound is Sunday versus the Padres, but it's possible he gets some additional time, as team off days Thursday and Monday give Arizona some flexibility. • BoSox designate Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment
Red Sox designated RHP Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment.

Advice: The Res Sox needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Dominic Smith on Wednesday and unfortunately Gutierrez was the odd-man out. He could once again attract interest on waivers. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Wednesday that Zac Gallen (hamstring) will not start on Friday.

  • Takes seat against lefty
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rosario once again finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games while the Nationals face another left-handed starting pitcher (Andrew Heaney). Platoon mate Alex Call gets the start in right field while Rosario takes a seat. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Austin Riley powers Braves to win over Mariners
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple on Wednesday, leading the Braves to a 5-2 victory over the Mariners.

Advice: Riley scalded a 102.7 mph opposite-field triple off the right-field wall in the fourth inning to give Atlanta a commanding four-run lead at the time. The 27-year-old fantasy stalwart hasn’t exactly set the world ablaze in the opening month of the year, batting .235 with just two homers in 29 contests to date, but he’s still got plenty of time to get it going. We’re not concerned in the slightest after three consecutive 30-homer campaigns since 2021. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • J-Rod raises average to .270 with three more hits
Julio Rodríguez went 3-for-5 with a run scored on Wednesday in the Mariners’ loss to the Braves.

Advice: Rodríguez has clearly snapped out of an early-season funk at the dish with seven multi-hit performances in his last 13 contests over the past two weeks since April 17. The 23-year-old fantasy superstar has just one round-tripper through 31 games, but he’s managed to raise his batting average back up to the .270 mark, and has also chipped in seven steals as well. It’s just a matter of time before he starts hitting moonshots again. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Solid rehab outing
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that everything went well Steele's (hamstring) rehab start with Triple-A Iowa, and the left-hander will meet with the team Friday after a Thursday workout, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurt his hamstring in late March, but he's in the latter stages of his rehab program. It was only the first rehab outing for Steele, but if he checks out well Friday it's possible his next start comes with the big-league club. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

  • Sitting against southpaw Wednesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: With lefty Andrew Heaney on the hill for Texas, the lefty-hitting Garcia will move to the bench Wednesday. Ildemaro Vargas will pick up the start at second base in place of Garcia, who has now sat out three times -- all against southpaws -- in the last four games. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago
  • First homer with White Sox
Pham went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a solo homer and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to Minnesota.

Advice: Pham opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning before extending Chicago's lead to 3-1 in the third with a home run off Bailey Ober, his first since joining the White Sox this year. The 36-year-old Pham's hit the ground running, going 9-for-24 while recording multiple hits in four of his first six contests. He slashed .256/.328/.446 with 16 homers, 68 RBI and 22 steals in 129 games between the Mets and Diamondbacks last season. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago
