• Getting day off
Dubon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Dubon will get the afternoon off after he had started in each of Houston's last 15 games. Though he's served mostly as a utility player during that stretch, Dubon appears to have found a home of late at first base, where he made each of his last three starts. Jon Singleton will step in for Dubon on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:44 am

  • Held out again Wednesday
Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Drury hasn't played in more than a week due to an upper-respiratory virus. The Angels have resisted placed him on the 10-day injured list thus far, and the team hasn't provided an indication that it has changed its stance, so consider Drury day-to-day. Luis Rengifo will cover second base Wednesday in Drury's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 10:39 am

  • Tyler Black on bench for third straight day
Tyler Black is on the bench for a third straight game Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: It was expected that Black would sit versus a lefty last night, but two of these three games have been against righties, and the Brewers picked Jake Bauers over him today. Black is 3-for-11 with three walks since being recalled Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 10:34 am

  • Out of lineup again Wednesday
Black is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: After starting each of the first four games upon being called up from Triple-A Nashville last Wednesday, Black has now been out of the lineup for three straight contests, with two of them coming against right-handed pitching. Jake Bauers will garner a second straight start at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 10:17 am

  • Tommy Edman (wrist) shut down with ankle sprain
Tommy Edman, who is working his way back from wrist surgery, suffered a sprained ankle while taking grounders on Tuesday.

Advice: It sounds like this could be a real setback for Edman, but we’ll know more later. Edman appeared to be getting fairly close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Today, 9:30 am

  • Sprains ankle in workout
Edman (wrist) sprained his ankle while fielding grounders Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The injury isn't viewed as a major setback, but it's not ideal after Edman had finally been making some real progress in his recovery from right wrist surgery. The Cardinals had been hopeful that Edman would be ready for a rehab assignment soon, and while that still could be the case, the ankle issue could delay him a few days. Rotowire.com Today, 9:26 am

  • Rangers activate Justin Foscue, send him to AAA
Rangers activated INF Justin Foscue from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue played in just two games for the Rangers in April before suffering an oblique strain. There’s no room for him on the roster now, but if he excels in Triple-A, perhaps he’ll get a look at DH or maybe even first base later. Rotoworld Today, 9:20 am

  • Activated and optioned
The Rangers activated Foscue (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue is fully recovered from the oblique strain that had kept him on the shelf since early April, but the Rangers will keep him at Round Rock, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The rookie infielder is 4-for-21 with one home run in seven games with Round Rock this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

  • Nick Loftin gets start at third base Wednesday
Nick Loftin is in the lineup as the Royals’ third baseman Wednesday against the Marlins.

Advice: Loftin was serving as the Royals’ starting second baseman until Monday, when Michael Massey’s return as a DH and CJ Alexander’s promotion resulted in Maikel Garcia moving to second and Loftin hitting the bench. Loftin is back out there today, but he’s playing Garcia’s old spot, with Garcia remaining at second. At this rate, it’s easy to imagine Loftin getting sent back to Triple-A when Massey is deemed ready to return to the field or when Adam Frazier comes off the IL, whichever happens first.
