• Tigers option Mason Englert back to Triple-A
Tigers optioned RHP Mason Englert to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Englert has been shipped back to the minors ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Rangers to make room for veteran reliever Shelby Miller to return from the injured list. The 24-year-old righty has made four relief appearances this season for Detroit at the highest level. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
  • Officially activated
The Tigers reinstated Miller (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Miller has been sidelined since May 13 due to right ulnar nerve inflammation in his right elbow. He threw 2.1 scoreless frames while striking out three batters and walking one during his two-game rehab assignment, though the 33-year-old right-hander has not been nearly as effective this season as he was in 2023, posting a 4.41 ERA through 16.1 innings. Mason Englert was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago
  • Optioned to Toledo
The Tigers optioned Englert to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Advice: Englert has given up three earned runs in six innings since coming up from Triple-A in late May, but he will now return to Toledo in order to make room for Shelby Miller (elbow), who was activated from the IL on Tuesday. Englert owns an impressive 2.35 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 23 innings with the Mud Hens, and he could be the first choice to return to Detroit if the Tigers run into further depth problems in their bullpen. • Jakb Junis starting rehab assignment on Tuesday
Jakob Junis (shoulder, head) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Junis is going to need at least a handful of rehab outings to build up his stamina and pitch count, but he should be an option for the Brewers as extra starting pitching depth in a couple weeks. The 31-year-old suffered a head injury when he was hit by a ball during batting practice back in late April while on the injured list recovering from a shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Today, 2:44 pm

  • Beginning rehab outings
Junis (shoulder/head) is beginning his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday night in Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Reports.

Advice: Junis was cleared for his rehab assignment Monday, but it is now clear that the assignment is starting Tuesday. The righty has been out since early April due to a right shoulder impingement as well as a head injury that later occurred in batting practice. He will need several outings to build himself back up. • Throws bullpen session
Diaz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Diaz threw 21 pitches during his mound session, and manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that there is a good chance the 30-year-old reliever begins a rehab assignment in the minors Thursday. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the Mets will give their star closer, but the fact Diaz is already able to begin an assignment likely signals that he will only require a minimum-length stint on the IL. • José Ureña starting Wednesday against Tigers
José Ureña will start on Wednesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Ureña gets the ball for Wednesday’s showdown at Globe Life Field after allowing four runs (two earned) over 2 1/3 innings last Friday against his former team in Miami. The 32-year-old is a non-factor for fantasy purposes, but he’s been an invaluable innings-eater this season for the defending World Series champions. Rotoworld Today, 2:28 pm

  • Outrighted to Las Vegas
Brooks cleared waivers Tuesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Brooks was designated for assignment Sunday after posting a 5.82 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 21.2 innings across four starts. Barring a significant turnaround in the minors, it is unlikely the 34-year-old right-hander returns to Oakland's rotation this season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:27 pm

  • Moved to 60-day IL
The Athletics transferred Blackburn (foot) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Blackburn landed on the injured list May 13 following a stress reaction in his right foot, and his move to the 60-day IL makes it more than likely he remains sidelined through the All-Star break. The 30-year-old righty has been in a walking boot for the past several weeks but is slated to be re-evaluated by the A's during their current homestand. Once the team is able to take a closer look at him, plans for a throwing program may begin to form. Rotowire.com Today, 2:24 pm
