• Big homer off bench Friday
Garcia went 1-for-1 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 9-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 23-year-old began the night on the bench with Yusei Kikuchi toeing the rubber for Toronto, but Garcia got the call to pinch hit for Trey Lipscomb in the seventh inning once the southpaw was out of the game. Garcia delivered, launching the first pitch he saw from Erik Swanson to straightaway center field to put the Nationals in the lead for good. The long ball was his second of the season, and the first pinch-hit blast of his career. Garcia is headed toward a breakout campaign, slashing .300/.344/.456 through 27 contests with five steals, six runs and 14 RBI. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Provides first quality start Friday
Corbin came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-3 win over the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Toronto jumped on Corbin for a three-spot in the second inning, but the veteran lefty settled down after that and kept his team in the game, and they responded by taking him off the hook for a loss by rallying for eight runs in the seventh and eighth. The quality start was Corbin's first of the season, and it was just the second time in seven outings that he allowed fewer than four runs. The 34-year-old's contract -- $35 million for 2024 in the final year of his deal -- has kept him in the Nats rotation, but his 6.45 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 25:15 K:BB through 37.2 innings don't belong on a fantasy roster. He lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend in Boston. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Keller charged for three over 4 2/3 vs. Cardinals
Mitch Keller was charged for three runs while going 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: Keller gave up five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. He gave up a pair of run-scoring doubles to Nolan Arenado, but outside of that, the 28-year-old pitched solidly for the most part. Keller will likely remain in the White Sox rotation and start against the Rays next week. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Brandon Marsh knocks in two in Phillies’ win
Brandon Marsh had a two-run single and a stolen base Friday as the Phillies edged the Giants 4-3.

Advice: Marsh is still in a little rut that’s seen him go 3-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts in his last six games. He got off to a fast start last year, only to cool off in May. We suspect that he’s a better player now than he was then, but he’s probably going to remain streaky with his strikeout tendencies. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Aaron Nola pulled after four versus Giants
Aaron Nola was lifted after allowing two runs and walking four in four innings Friday against the Giants.

Advice: A really odd start for Nola, who pretty much always lasts five innings unless he’s truly bad or hurt. Tonight, though, he walked four for the second time this season — he did that just once between 2022 and ’23 — and the Phillies didn’t think it was worth sending him back out for the fifth at 89 pitches. They were probably right, too, as the bullpen went on to allowing one run over five innings in a 4-3 win. Nola’s velocity is down, and he’s struggled to generate as many missed swings as usual. The hope is that he’ll get stronger, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his history. Fortunately, even though his peripherals are well off, he has a 3.32 ERA through seven starts. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • José Alvarado notched sixth save for Phillies
José Alvarado threw a scoreless ninth in a one-run game for his sixth save Friday against the Giants.

Advice: Alvarado gave up five runs on Opening Day and remained wild for a spell after that, but he’s walked just one in his last nine appearances and given up one run in 14 appearances. He’s recorded six of the Phillies’ 11 saves for the year, and he could maintain something close to that ratio going forward. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
  • Jordan Hicks walks four in loss to Phillies
Jordan Hicks gave up four runs — two earned — and walked four in four innings Friday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Improved control has been a big key for Hicks in his successful run in the Giants rotation, but this is the second time in his last three starts that he’s walked four batters, giving him14 walks in 38 innings for the year. The loss tonight was his first, and he still has a nice 1.89 ERA for the season. Still, he doesn’t seem like a great mixed-league option from here. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Ryan Helsley hurls scoreless ninth for save
Ryan Helsley picked up a save Friday against the White Sox without allowing a run in his inning of work.

Advice: Helsley didn’t give up a hit, didn’t give up a walk, and didn’t pick up a strikeout. The right-hander needed just eight pitches — seven of those strikes — against a Chicago team that looked like it wanted to be anywhere else. Helsley has already saved 11 games, and he lowered his ERA to 1.59 with the scoreless frame. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
