• Sitting again
Velazquez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Velazquez has been less and less of an everyday option for the Royals as the team continues to trot out lineups with Salvador Perez as first, Vinnie Pasquantino at DH and Freddy Fermin behind the dish. Velazquez hasn't done much to warrant an everyday role after starting the season red-hot, with just one hit in his last 27 at-bats. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
  • Receives day off
Cowser is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Cowser will get a breather Friday as Heston Kjerstad handles left field. Through 30 games, Cowser is slashing .277/.351/.578 with six homers and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Gets breather
Palacios is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Palacios has been an everyday starter for the Rays lately with Jose Siri dealing with a suspension and Josh Lowe (hamstring) on the 10-day IL. However, the newly recalled Jonny DeLuca will fill in at center field Friday. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Rays option Niko Goodrum to Triple-A
Rays optioned INF Niko Goodrum to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Goodrum will head down to the minors after he put together just four hits in his 37 plate appearances with the Rays this season. The 32-year-old was added to the Rays in a trade with the Twins at the beginning of the season as infield depth, but he hasn’t made the mark he nor the Rays hoped he could. • Sent to Triple-A
The Rays optioned Goodrum to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Goodrum was called up by Tampa Bay on April 12, but he appeared in just nine games and went 3-for-16 with a walk and six strikeouts. The 32-year-old could rejoin the Rays later in the campaign if the club requires infield depth. Rotowire.com Today, 11:43 am

  • Working out with Double-A affiliate
Hays will work out with Double-A Bowie this weekend, but it's unclear when his rehab assignment will start, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Hays is nursing his way back from a strained left calf, an injury he sustained Apr. 20. While an official start date for his rehab assignment has yet to be announced, it's expected he'll do such at Bowie. Colton Cowser has taken hold of the starting job in left field, so the team has the luxury of not being forced to rush Hays back. Rotowire.com Today, 11:26 am

  • Still has manager's confidence
Rosario has remained a regular in the Nationals' lineup despite his early-season struggles, and manager Dave Martinez hasn't given up on the 32-year-old, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports. "It's early," Martinez said Thursday. "You've got to give him a chance, you really do. I'm not going to sit him down yet right now. He's got to go out there and play. ... I've seen him play before. This kid can hit. He can put you on his shoulders."

Advice: At the moment, Rosario is handling the strong side of a platoon in right field while Lane Thomas (knee) is injured, but he's mired in an 0-for-27 slump that has sunk his slash line on the season to .086/.133/.157. Rosario has a history of slow starts, but even his xBA and xwOBA are in the bottom one percent of qualified hitters. Once Thomas gets healthy, the Nats may not be able to afford to stay patient with Rosario, especially with top prospect James Wood also making a strong case for a promotion to the majors. • On base three times in win
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Cubs.

Advice: The 31-year-old is coming to life from the leadoff spot, reaching base multiple times in five of his last seven starts and batting .286 (8-for-28) over that stretch with a .394 OBP. Nimmo's .216/.365/.360 slash line on the season remains disappointing for fantasy purposes, but he's chipped in three homers, two steals, 15 runs and 20 RBI in 30 contests. • Double, RBI in loss
O'Neill went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: O'Neill had a terrific first month in a Boston uniform and continues to outperform his career standards. The outfielder has a 1.096 OPS, second in MLB behind only Mookie Betts. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 am
