• Another rehab start Saturday
Cabrera (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cabrera is slated to throw 80-to-85 pitches in what will likely be his final rehab start before rejoining the Marlins' rotation. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in his first three rehab outings. Cabrera has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement. • Has surgery for capsule tear
France underwent surgery Monday to repair a capsule tear in his right shoulder.

Advice: It had been reported previously that France was set to undergo season-ending surgery and now the specifics of the procedure have been revealed. France is on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Sugar Land but could be a candidate for the major-league 60-day IL should the Astros need to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. • Reports elbow discomfort
Gray experienced elbow discomfort and felt more fatigued than normal during Sunday's rehab start at Triple-A Rochester, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Gray will undergo testing in the coming days.

Advice: Gray compared the discomfort to what he felt in April when he sustained the right flexor strain, a concerning sign for the 26-year-old, who was close to reinstatement before the setback. Gray surrendered seven runs across three innings Sunday before reporting the pain. He'll continue to be evaluated over the coming days as the severity of the setback is determined. • Gray feels discomfort in elbow after rehab start
Josiah Gray felt discomfort in his right elbow following his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: The hope was that Gray would be able to rejoin the Nationals’ rotation after that rehab start. Instead, the 26-year-old felt the same discomfort he did in April, and now will undergo an MRI on his right elbow. It’s very unlikely Gray makes a start with Washington now in the coming days, and his return may not be able to come until after the All-Star break. just when he gets back on the bump will largely be determined by the results of the imaging. • Joins Tigers in Minnesota
Montero has joined the Tigers in Minnesota and is expected to enter the rotation in place of the injured Casey Mize (hamstring), jkh reports.

Advice: It's not known yet which day Montero will start, but he will join the rotation sometime this week while Mize misses some time. The right-hander has made two appearances with the Tigers this season -- one as a starter and one as a bulk reliever -- and has allowed nine runs with an 11:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings. • Keider Montero likely to start in place of Mize
Keider Montero is likely to take the place of Casey Mize (hamstring) in the rotation.

Advice: Jason Beck of MLB.com reports that Montero is traveling with the team to Minnesota, so that just about confirms it. Mize is currently dealing with hamstring troubles, and is expected to be placed on the 15-day injured list. Montero hasn’t had success as an MLB hurler yet, but the 23-year-old has quality stuff and could be an interesting streamer when facing less-than-spectacular lineups. Rotoworld Today, 11:38 am
  • Shintaro Fujinami (shoulder) moves rehab to Double-A
Shintaro Fujinami (shoulder) had his rehab assignment moved up to Double-A Binghamton.

Advice: Fujinami will move up to Double-A after previously working at Low-A St. Lucie. The right-hander can come off the 60-day injured list Wednesday, but it’s unlikely that he makes appearances for the Mets before the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 10:57 am

  • Moving up to Double-A
Astros manager Joe Espada said on Tuesday in an interview with SportsTalk 790 that Garcia's (elbow) next rehab start will come Thursday at Double-A Corpus Christi, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Garcia threw one inning with the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate this past Friday in his first rehab appearance. It's not clear what his targeted pitch count is for Thursday's outing, but Garcia will need a handful of rehab starts before becoming an option to join the Astros' rotation. He's making his way back from Tommy John surgery. Rotowire.com Today, 10:47 am

  • Luis Garcia (elbow) making rehab start Thursday
Luis Garcia (elbow) will make a rehab start Thursday for Double-A Corpus Christi.

Advice: Garcia will be making his second rehab appearance after throwing one inning Friday in the Florida Complex League. The 27-year-old right-hander has missed all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he’ll likely need to make a few more starts before having a chance to join Houston’s rotation after the All-Star break; likely closer to August than the middle of July.
