• Orioles place Corbin Burnes on paternity list
Orioles placed RHP Corbin Burnes on the paternity list.

Advice: All this meant is that the Orioles will benefit from having an extra reliever for the next two or three days. Burnes defeated the Rangers last night and isn’t slated to make his next start until Wednesday. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Placed on paternity leave list
The Orioles placed Burnes on the paternity leave list Friday.

Advice: Burnes will likely be away for the remainder of the series against the Rangers as he welcomes a new addition to the family. The righty started Thursday's series opener and should be back in time for his next turn, which is tentatively lined up to come next week in Seattle. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • A’s outright Aaron Brooks to Triple-A
Athletics signed RHP Aaron Brooks outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Five innings of one-run ball in relief Monday wasn’t enough to get Brooks a look from another major league team. He can become a free agent, but his best bet for more MLB time is to stick with the A’s. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago
  • Starts rehab assignment
Garcia (elbow) has been sent to the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: It will be the first game action for Garcia since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May. The 27-year-old will need most, if not all, of his 30-day rehab window, but he could prove to be a nice boost to the Astros' rotation after the All-Star break. Garcia holds a career 3.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 364:112 K:BB across 352 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:34 am

  • Sent to rookie ball
Phillips was assigned to the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday.

Advice: Phillips has loud stuff, but his control and command have been major weaknesses throughout his career. He gave up 23 earned runs in 10.1 innings over his three most recent starts for Triple-A Louisville, and the assignment to the complex will presumably allow him to work on some mechanical stuff that's easier to address in a less competitive environment. • Sent outright to Triple-A
The Athletics outrighted Brooks to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday.

Advice: Brooks has the option to elect free agency if he wants, but there's precedent for him not doing so, as he already accepted an outright assignment earlier this month. The righty holds a 5.06 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 26.2 frames during his time in the majors this season. Rotowire.com Today, 6:50 am
  • Allows three homers in loss
Flaherty (5-5) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Flaherty got tagged for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the second before proceeding to strike out six of the next nine batters he faced. However, the right-hander would go on to surrender two more long balls on the night as the Tigers failed to back him with anything on offense. Flaherty had allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive starts coming in, and no runs in three of his previous four. The three home runs he gave up Thursday also marked a season high. • Stuck with no-decision
Wacha did not factor into the decision in a win over the Guardians on Thursday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Wacha loaded the bases in the second inning after walking two batters and hitting another one with a pitch, but the right-hander was able to work his way out of the jam and didn't surrender a run until the fifth when Daniel Schneemann got him for sac fly. Unfortunately for Wacha, he was still unable to walk away with the win for the fourth consecutive start, despite allowing two or fewer runs in each of those outings. Wacha actually hasn't surrendered more than two runs in seven straight starts and lowered his season ERA to 3.91 with Thursday's performance. Rotowire.com Today, 4:39 am
  • Takes tough loss
Lively (7-4) took the loss against the Royals on Thursday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings while striking out five.

Advice: Lively was sharp for most of the contest and didn't allow a runner to reach second until the fifth inning when Nick Loftin walked, then advanced on a steal. Unfortunately for the right-hander, his luck would run out in the following frame after he surrendered back-to-back triples to open things up, which eventually led to two runs coming home for Kansas City. It marked Lively's first quality start this month and he's now allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven outings. However, he's also lost two of his last three starts after previously winning five straight. Rotowire.com Today, 4:31 am
