• Strong outing in no-decision
Pallante came away with a no-decision in Thursday's win over the Pirates. He allowed one run in seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out five.

Advice: The right-hander gave up a solo home run to Bryan Reynolds in the fourth, which turned out to be Pallante's only hiccup Thursday. For the third time in his career and the first this season, he went at least seven innings in a start. He's been a dependable option for the Cardinals since being inserted into the rotation in May, pitching to a 3.34 ERA over seven starts. Outside of his starts versus the Astros and Giants, in which he gave up a combined 11 earned runs, Pallante has only given up two earned runs in his other five starts this season. • Martín Pérez allows just unearned run vs. Cards
Martín Pérez allowed just an unearned run over 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: The run Pérez allowed was unearned, but it was his fault since it was his error that created it. That being said, it was an excellent outing for the southpaw even without many missed bats, as he scattered six hits while issuing just one walk. Even with the quality start — literally and figuratively — Pérez still has a 4.74 ERA, and he’d be a risky streamer for his scheduled start against Milwaukee on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm

  • Andre Pallante holds Pirates to one run over seven
Andre Pallante gave up one run in seven strong innings against the Pirates on Thursday, but he didn’t factor in the decision.

Advice: Pallante allowed a solo homer to Bryan Reynolds, and outside of that was outstanding against the Pittsburgh lineup. He allowed just four hits throughout the contest while striking out five and issuing one free pass. The 25-year-old was able to go seven innings for the first time, and he has allowed just the one run over his last 12 1/3 innings. Pallante will look to keep it going next week against the Royals. • Has quality start spoiled
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Thursday's loss to the Nationals. He did not allow a run over seven innings, giving up four hits and three walks.

Advice: For the first time this season, Quintana went through a game without allowing a run, but he got no run support on his way to the no-decision. He joins Tylor Megill as the only two Mets pitchers to throw seven shutout innings this season. Quintana has picked up a quality start in three of his last four appearances and has lowered his ERA to 4.22 in the process. Rotowire.com Today, 11:28 am

  • Jose Quintana looks great in no decision
Jose Quintana was tremendous in a no-decision against the Nationals on Thursday, throwing seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits.

Advice: Quintana did walk three and struck out only one on the day, but it was a solid effort despite a 17 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. Quintana kept the Nationals hitters off-balance and off the barrel and has now allowed just three total earned runs over 23 1/3 innings in his last four starts. His recent performance puts him firmly on the streaming radar next week against the Nationals. Rotoworld Today, 10:49 am

  • Hit around again in loss
Festa (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Tigers, allowing seven runs on nine hits and no walks. He struck out six over five innings.

Advice: Festa allowed three home runs on the day, including a grand slam to Carson Kelly in the third inning, which opened up the scoring frenzy for the Tigers. Wenceel Perez took him long in the same inning and then Riley Greene also went deep in the fifth for a two-run blast. The one encouraging stat line for Festa in this one was he had six strikeouts and no walks while piling up 13 whiffs. Still, the 24-year-old has now allowed 12 runs over his first 10 major-league innings. If he sticks around for another turn in the rotation, he'll line up to face the White Sox early next week. • Struggles in debut
Mena did not factor into the decision in a win over the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over three innings while striking out two.

Advice: Mena got off to a brutal start, allowing the first two batters to reach before surrendering back-to-back home runs in the opening frame. The right-hander then hurled two scoreless frames before being relieved by Bryce Jarvis to open the fourth, though the former also issued two walks over that final stretch, in addition to being charged with a balk. It was an uninspiring debut for the 21-year-old Mena, though perhaps Arizona will take it with a grain of salt considering the lineup he was up against in his first major-league start. • Brewers bolster rotation with Aaron Civale trade
Brewers acquired RHP Aaron Civale from the Rays for SS Gregory Barrios.

Advice: It doesn’t come as a total shock to see another analytically-driven front office rolling the dice on Civale after he spent the first couple seasons of his career in Cleveland and Tampa Bay’s pitching development engines. The 29-year-old righty was phenomenal last year for the Rays following a midseason trade from the Guardians, but his strikeout rate has regressed back to previous level this year and he’s struggled to a pedestrian 5.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 84/27 K/BB ratio across 87 innings (17 starts). Even if the strikeouts don’t return, Civale represents an upgrade for Milwaukee’s injury-ravaged starting rotation moving forward, even if it’s a tough landing spot for fantasy purposes from a park factors standpoint. • Cristian Mena surrenders four runs in debut
Cristian Mena allowed four runs with two strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: Mena got into trouble immediately in this one, giving up a hit and a walk to put two runners on for Freddie Freeman, who took him deep for a three-run blast to put the Dodgers ahead. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a solo homer. Mena tossed two more scoreless frames and end his day after three innings with two strikeouts. He’ll likely retreat back to Triple-A following the spot start against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:38 pm
