• Slade Cecconi falters versus Padres
Slade Cecconi surrendered three runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings Thursday against the Padres.

Advice: Fortunately, the bullpen was stellar the rest of the way. For Cecconi, though, it was another tough outing. The Diamondbacks would have him in Triple-A right now if they possessed a healthy rotation. He turned in quality starts in his first two outings in April, but he’s given up 23 earned runs in 29 1/3 innings since, leaving him 1-4 with a 5.66 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 10:11 pm
  • Paul Sewald turns in hitless inning for save
Paul Seward pitched a hitless ninth with a one-run lead for his seventh save Thursday against the Padres.

Advice: Sewald has been about as tough as ever since returning from an oblique strain a month ago. He has a 0.87 ERA and is 7-for-7 saving games this season. Rotoworld Today, 10:11 pm
  • Randy Vásquez delivers quality start in no-decision
Randy Vásquez yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Vásquez walked none and generated more soft contact than loud, but he did give up homers to Eugenio Suárez and Gabriel Moreno. The D’backs pulled him with two outs and none on in a 3-3 game in the seventh, only to watch the typically unhittable Jeremiah Estrada come in and give up a double and an RBI single to break the tie. Vásquez will get a home start against the A’s next time out, making him a streaming option in mixed leagues. The D’backs will eventually likely choose between him and Adam Mazur to remain in the rotation after Yu Darvish returns. Rotoworld Today, 10:11 pm

  • Collects seventh save
Sewald walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres.

Advice: Sewald has three saves over four outings in June and is up to seven saves in as many chances this season. The closer has maintained excellent ratios as well with a 0.87 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 10.1 innings. While the Diamondbacks have underwhelmed to limit Sewald's save chances, he's been nearly untouchable when called upon. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 pm
  • Does alright in no-decision
Cecconi allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk and struck out three batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Cecconi was again fine but not great in his second start since being recalled from Triple-A Reno to take Zac Gallen's (hamstring) place in the rotation. Cecconi has allowed four runs over nine innings across those two starts, and he's at a 5.66 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB through 41.1 innings over eight appearances (seven starts) this year. Gallen resumed throwing earlier in the week, but he's not eligible to return until next Friday, so Cecconi should be in line for a home start versus the Angels next week. Rotowire.com Today, 9:55 pm
  • Struggles against Red Sox
Woodford (0-2) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three over four innings to take the loss Thursday versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Woodford has failed to pitch past the fifth inning in both of his starts for the White Sox so far. The Red Sox jumped on him right away Thursday, with Jarren Duran leading off the game with a solo home run. Enmanuel Valdez added a three-run shot in the fourth inning. Woodford doesn't have a great track record as a starter in the majors, but he's likely to remain in the rotation for another turn, as Mike Clevinger (elbow) will require a rehab start before returning. Woodford is lined up for a road start in Seattle next week if the White Sox give him another outing. Rotowire.com Today, 9:30 pm

  • Impressive in win
Houck (6-5) allowed two runs on three hits and struck out nine over seven innings to earn the win Thursday over the White Sox. He did not issue a walk.

Advice: Houck carried a no-hitter through five innings, though the White Sox managed to tag him for one run in each of the sixth and seventh frames. The right-hander remains dialed in, having allowed just four runs over 27 innings across his last four starts. Houck is at a 1.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 84:15 K:BB over 85 innings through 13 starts this season. His next start is projected to be a challenging one at home versus the Phillies. • Lacks command in loss
Gray (7-4) allowed three runs on two hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: The four walks were a season high for Gray, and he also uncorked two wild pitches, one of which allowed a run to score in the fifth inning. Gray's control issues have manifested with five straight starts where he's allowed multiple walks, and he's failed to complete six innings in any of his last four outings. The right-hander is now at a 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 82:19 K:BB over through 61.2 innings over 11 starts this season. Gray is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates. • Holmes picks up 18th save against Twins
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Holmes’ 18th of the season. He has allowed an earned run in only one of 28 appearances this year. Holmes has been fabulous with a 1.32 ERA and 28 strikeouts on the season. Rotoworld Today, 8:24 pm
