    • Completes bullpen session
Dunning (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: Dunning is progressing well after straining his rotator cuff, having tossed his first bullpen session since being placed on the 15-day injured list on May 8. His IL designation was retroactive to May 5, meaning he could be eligible for reinstatement as soon as Monday. However, he'll have to make it through the rest of his rehab without setbacks for an immediate return to be a possibility. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:36 pm

    • Dane Dunning (shoulder) throws bullpen session
Dane Dunning, who was placed on the injured list last week with a rotator cuff strain, threw a bullpen session Tuesday.

Advice: All went well, apparently, and it doesn’t currently look like Dunning’s IL stint will be a lengthy one. Given the state of their rotation, the Rangers could bring him back without a rehab stint if he continues to feel good. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:36 pm

    • Reynaldo López (back) likely to make next start
Reynaldo López tossed five scoreless innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: López certainly would’ve gone deeper into the contest, but he was lifted for precautionary reasons following just 71 pitches (50 strikes) after his back tightened up on him. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern with Braves manager Brian Snitker telling reporters afterwards that he doesn’t expect him to miss his next start. The 30-year-old righty will bring a stellar 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40/16 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Padres. • Earns win in extra frame
Romano (1-0) earned the win Monday, walking one and striking out one over two scoreless innings of relief against the Orioles.

Advice: Romano entered a tie game in the ninth, needing just nine pitches to complete the frame, then unofficially saved his own victory after the Blue Jays plated a run in the top of the 10th. It was the 10th appearance of the season for the Toronto closer, who had converted on all six of his save opportunities prior to earning his first victory Monday. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:11 pm

    • Exits with tight back
Lopez was lifted from Monday's start against the Cubs early due to back tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. He didn't factor into the decision after allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four over five scoreless innings.

Advice: Lopez was removed from the game firing 71 pitches, and he likely would've gone back out for the sixth had his back not become an issue. He'll be considered day-to-day leading up to his next outing, but the club expects him to be ready for his next start, per Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. • Might throw off mound this weekend
Eovaldi (groin) could be ready to throw off a mound this weekend, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: Eovaldi did some more flat-ground throwing Monday and might be ready to take the next step forward by getting back on a mound to toss a bullpen session. While he looks to be trending in the right direction, Eovaldi doesn't look as though he'll be ready to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible Saturday. He's coming back from a strained right groin. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:38 pm

    • Plays catch Monday
Dunning (shoulder) played catch from 90 feet Monday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Dunning landed on the 15-day injured list last week with a right rotator cuff strain, but he said after Monday's throwing session that his pitching arm is feeling stronger. His stint on the IL isn't expected to be a long one, but he'll need to go through a full throwing progression before being activated. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:43 pm

    • Working through mechanical issues
Senga (shoulder) won't face hitters again until he works through some mechanical issues, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 32 pitches in a live bullpen session last weekend, but he apparently wasn't satisfied with how it went. Senga will take a step back in his throwing program and go back to more controlled bullpen sessions without hitters involved until he's sure he won't be developing any bad habits as he progresses in his rehab from a shoulder strain. While the caution is smart in the long run, the hiccup will almost certainly ensure that Senga won't be ready to join the Mets rotation when he's first eligible to come off the 60-day injured list in late May. • Turns in scoreless appearance
Gil (4-1) allowed three hits and two walks over six shutout innings Sunday, striking out three and earning a win over the Rays.

Advice: Gil never found himself in much trouble Sunday as he cruised to a scoreless quality start. He's gone 3-0 while giving up one run over 18.1 frames in his last three outings, dropping his season ERA to 2.51. Prior to these three straight quality starts, Gil hadn't completed six innings in any of his first five appearances. His next start is projected to be a strong home matchup against the White Sox.
