    • Red Sox hopeful David Hamilton (side) avoids IL
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said he’s hopeful David Hamilton can avoid an IL stint after leaving Monday’s game with left side discomfort.

Advice: The Red Sox knew about it before the game and let him start anyway, but he had to leave in the fourth. “We’ll see how he comes tomorrow,” Cora said. “I think we were proactive so hopefully not an IL stint, but we’ll know more tomorrow.” Rotoworld 11 minutes ago
    • O’Neill blasts two home runs against Jays Monday
Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: O’Neill’s two home runs give him 14 on the season. He took Toronto starter Yusei Kikuchi deep in the first inning and again in the third inning. O’Neill was the designated hitter on Monday, but seems to be over his knee discomfort. He’s hitting .258 with an .888 OPS and 25 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Picks up fourth win
Sanchez (4-3) went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) to earn the win Monday against the Padres. He gave up six hits, one walk, and struck out five.

Advice: Sanchez was impressive Monday against San Diego as he allowed only one extra-base hit. It was the eighth start this season in which he's allowed one earned run or fewer. The lefty matched his season high for innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 2.91 in the process. The 27-year-old is tentatively scheduled to pitch again this weekend versus the Diamondbacks. • Cristopher Sánchez goes seven in win over Padres
Cristopher Sánchez was charged with two runs (one earned) over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Padres.

Advice: Sánchez limited San Diego to just six hits over seven frames as their lone runs of the contest came on a fifth-inning ground out from Jake Cronenworth and a run-scoring double by Donovan Solano in the seventh inning. He struck out five and only issued one walk, getting plenty of run support from Philadephia’s offense to cruise to his fourth win of the year. He’ll bring a strong 2.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 66/24 K/BB ratio across 77 1/3 innings (14 starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago
    • Dealing with side issue
Hamilton (side) exited Monday's contest against Toronto due to left side discomfort in the fourth inning, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Hamilton was removed from the game in bottom of the fourth inning after striking out for a second time in the top of the frame. The shortstop may have tweaked something in his side in his final at-bat of the day and a more exact diagnosis will likely be provided by the Red Sox after Monday's game concludes. • David Hamilton exits game with side discomfort
David Hamilton departed Monday’s game due to left side discomfort.

Advice: That’s not usually good, but there’s the chance it might be minor. If Hamilton is forced to the IL, perhaps the Red Sox would take a look at Chase Meidroth at shortstop. The other option would be to just bring back Jamie Westbrook, who was sent down today. In that case, Romy Gonzalez and maybe Ceddanne Rafaela would play short. Rotoworld Today, 5:38 pm
    • Exits early versus Toronto
Hamilton (undisclosed) was removed from Monday's contest with the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hamilton struck out swinging in the top of the fourth inning, exiting the game prior to taking the field in the bottom of the frame. The 26-year-old will finish his day 0-for-2 with two punchouts and an update on his status will likely be provided before the conclusion of Monday's contest. In the meantime, Romy Gonzalez shifted over to shortstop while Enmanuel Valdez entered the lineup at second base. Rotowire.com Today, 5:29 pm
    • David Hamilton leaves game in fourth inning
David Hamilton left Monday’s game in the fourth inning with an undisclosed injury.

Advice: Enmanuel Valdez replaced him, with Romy Gonzalez moving from second to short. It’d be awful timing for Hamilton to suffer a significant injury, especially after he was just picked up in every league in which he was available. Rotoworld Today, 5:25 pm
    • Not in Monday's lineup
Marte is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Rangers starter Jon Gray has held Marte in check during their matchups, with Marte producing a 611 OPS in 20 plate appearances. Marte will begin Monday's game on the bench as DJ Stewart spells him in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 1:58 pm
