    • Released by Mets
The Mets released Choi on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Choi had a June 1 opt-out in his minor-league deal with the Mets, but he'll hit the open market a day early. The 33-year-old slashed .183/.307/.317 across 101 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse and will likely look to sign a minor-league deal elsewhere. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 pm

    • Seth Brown strikes out four times in loss
Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season. Lawrence Butler seems like a better option in his spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

    • Mark Vientos goes 3-for-5 in start
Mark Vientos went 3-for-5 with two RBI in a 10-5 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Vientos received a vote of confidence before this game with Brett Baty being sent down to the minor leagues. That gives Vientos full runway to be the Mets’ starting third baseman for the foreseeable future. He should firmly be on all fantasy radars with a .327/.377/.592 slash line in 49 at-bats this season. • Jake Burger goes 3-for-5 in win over Rangers
Jake Burger went 3-for-5 with a couple of runs scored Friday in the win over the Rangers.

Advice: Burger came into the night with a hideous .240 OBP, but the Marlins still had him hitting second in their lineup. Perhaps he’s starting to pull out of his slump; he has seven hits in his last three games, raising his average from .189 to .218. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:02 pm

    • Dominic Smith collects two hits in win over Tigers
Dominic Smith went 2-for-3 and drove in a run on Friday as the Red Sox defeated the Tigers at Fenway Park.

Advice: Smith got the Red Sox on the board with a run-scoring double off of Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning, then scored on Ceddanne Rafaela’s three-run blast. The 28-year-old also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. Even with the strong showing though, he’s still hitting just .198/.278/.284 with one homer and 13 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:42 pm
    • Starting Friday
Brooks is starting at first base and batting ninth in Friday's series opener against the Yankees.

Advice: Brooks will make his second major-league start since being selected from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. He's gone 0-for-3 across his two outings with the Giants, and he'll look for his first hit in the majors Friday against Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:58 pm
    • Brewers option Owen Miller back to Triple-A
Brewers optioned INF/OF Owen Miller to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: With Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) returning from the injured list on Friday, there was no longer room on the bench for Miller. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A Nashville until his services are needed again at the big league level. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:51 pm

    • Sent back to Nashville
The Brewers optioned Miller to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Advice: Miller was recalled from Nashville earlier in May to provide depth as Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) headed to the injured list. Now that Hoskins is back, Miller will be pushed back to Triple-A. The 27-year-old infielder has slashed .185/.185/.222 across 27 big-league plate appearances this season, but he figures to be on the shortlist for a return to Milwaukee should the Brewers run into more depth issues. • Spencer Torkelson not in Tigers lineup on Friday
Spencer Torkelson is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: It looks to be a routine night off for the 24-year-old first baseman. While his bat has perked up in recent weeks, he’s still hitting just .205/.271/.337 with four homers and 18 RBI on the season. Gio Urshela will draw a start at first base in his absence and will bat seventh against Tanner Houck on Friday evening. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm
