    • Returns to lineup
Diaz (hand) is in the Rockies' lineup Tuesday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Diaz missed four consecutive games for the Rockies due to nursing a hand injury. He also had an additional day to recover with the off day for the team Monday. Jacob Stallings was starting in his place, but will return to the bench Tuesday. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Rockies optioned Bouchard to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Advice: With Kris Bryant (back) returning from the injured list, Bouchard will head back to the minors to free up a roster spot. The 28-year-old outfielder has put up a 1.042 OPS in the minors so far, though his numbers fell to .222/.333/.370 across 63 plate appearances upon moving to the big leagues. He would likely return to Colorado later this season if the Rockies find themselves in need of outfield depth. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

    • Back in action
Bryant (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game in Oakland, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Bryant returns to the lineup for the Rockies on Tuesday, starting at first base and batting fifth. The 32-year-old landed on the injured list April 17 with a lower back strain. The veteran was slashing only .149/.273/.255 over 13 games before getting injured. With his return to the lineup, Sean Bouchard has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

    • Sent to bullpen
Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Hendricks will pitch out of the bullpen moving forward, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The veteran right-hander enjoyed a resurgent 2023 with a 3.74 ERA in 24 outings, but this season has been a disaster with a 10.57 ERA across 30.2 innings. A return to the rotation could be in store if Hendricks is able to get on track out of the bullpen. He has just one non-playoff relief appearance during his 11-year MLB career. • Rockies activate Kris Bryant for Tuesday return
Rockies activated INF/OF Kris Bryant from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Bryant returns to Colorado’s roster ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Athletics following a one-month absence due to a lower back strain. The 32-year-old has gotten off to an abysmal start at the dish this season, batting .149 (7-for-47) with one homer and zero steals in 13 games. He’s gradually faded into irrelevancy for fantasy purposes over the last few years with the Rockies. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Willson Contreras optimistic on earlier return
Willson Contreras (fractured forearm) has already had his cast removed.

Advice: The exact date is uncertain, but Contreras has been cast-less since at least last Friday, May 17. It may have been as early as May 11. “I’m really happy with how the process is going and how well I’m recovering,” Contreras said late last week. “The way I feel, I could say, it’s not going to be (until) the All-Star break. It could be earlier than that. I’m not going to say something that is going to get above the doctors’ opinion, but if you’re asking me how I’m feeling, I’m feeling great.” The Cardinals have yet to comment on Contreras potentially beating his All-Star week return projection, but it is now definitely within the realm of possibility. • Rockies option Sean Bouchard to Triple-A
Rockies optioned INF/OF Sean Bouchard to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Bouchard draws the short straw on Colorado’s active roster with Kris Bryant returning from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Athletics. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Rockies outright Julio Carreras to Triple-A
Rockies sent INF Julio Carreras outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Carreras was designated for assignment over the weekend and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 24-year-old infielder has been removed from Colorado’s 40-man roster, but will still remain with the organization. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

    • Luis Garcia (elbow) continues throwing program
Luis Garcia (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park.

Advice: Garcia isn’t expected to return to Houston’s starting rotation mix until sometime around midseason as he continues to recover from last May’s Tommy John surgery. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
