    • Throwing off mound Wednesday
Olson (hip) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Olson had to make an early exit from his start Monday against the Royals after taking a comebacker off his right hip. The right-hander managed to escape the incident with nothing more than a bruise, but the Tigers will have him throw a bullpen session to make sure Olson will be able to make his next scheduled start Saturday against Toronto. • Reese Olson (hip) plays catch on Tuesday
Reese Olson (hip) played catch on Tuesday without any issues.

Advice: Olson is still dealing with some relatively minor hip soreness, but still expects to make his next start on Saturday against the Blue Jays. There should be a final call on his status at some point later this week when he throws his usual between-starts side session. Rotoworld Today, 2:25 pm
    • Not in Tuesday's lineup
Bogaerts (shoulder) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: It's no surprise, of course, after Bogaerts suffered a left shoulder injury in the first game of Monday's doubleheader in Atlanta. Initial testing indicated that Bogaerts avoided a dislocation and might not need a stint on the injured list, but he and the Padres are still awaiting the results of other tests. Luis Arraez will handle second base Tuesday and Donovan Solano will be the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 1:12 pm

    • Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) remains out Tuesday
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Bogaerts was forced to leave Monday’s game against Atlanta with injury, and he’s been diagnosed with shoulder inflammation. The 31-year-old will miss at least one more game, and he should be considered day-to-day at this point. Rotoworld Today, 12:56 pm

    • Homers in each game of twin bill
Ozuna went 3-for-7 with two solo homers, an additional run, a double and a walk across both games of Monday's doubleheader versus the Padres.

Advice: Ozuna came into Monday without a homer over his past eight contests, but he snapped that drought with a solo shot in each game of the doubleheader. The slugger simultaneously extended his hitting streak to 13 games, during which he's batting an even .400 with five long balls, three doubles and 11 RBI. Ozuna ranks third in MLB with 14 homers on the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm
    • Worst start of season versus Angels
Valdez (3-2) allowed eight runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Monday versus the Angels.

Advice: Valdez followed up his start of seven shutout innings versus the Athletics with a dud Monday. He was doing fine until the Angels rallied for seven runs in the fifth, including three-run home runs by Nolan Schanuel and Logan O'Hoppe and a solo shot from Jo Adell. Valdez is now at a 4.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB through 41.2 innings over seven starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Seattle. • Picks up 14th save
Helsley walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Helsley hadn't pitched since last Tuesday, but he didn't show much rust. The closer is on a 10-inning scoreless streak, and he's earned seven saves and a win in that span. For the season, he's 14-for-15 in save chances with a 2-2 record, a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB over 21 innings. Helsley's strong pitching has helped him go unquestioned as the Cardinals' closer this year, though the team's 21-26 record leaves some doubt about whether he can keep picking up saves at such a strong pace. • Framber Valdez gives up three fifth-inning homers
Framber Valdez was pounded for eight runs and three homers in five innings by the Angels in Monday’s loss.

Advice: Valdez allowed just one run on four groundball singles through four innings tonight, but the fifth was a vastly different story. All three homers came in that inning, and it was really pretty amazing that he got to finish the frame while allowing seven runs. Valdez had a 2.88 ERA going into the fifth tonight, only to finish the game at 4.32. It’s the first time in his career that he’s allowed three homers and the second time that he’s allowed eight runs, with the other instance also coming against the Angels in 2020. • Helsley records 14th save Monday
Ryan Helsley picked up his 14th save of the season against the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: Helsley pitched another scoreless ninth inning, which was his 15th consecutive appearance without allowing an earned run. He walked Austin Hays with two outs before getting Cedric Mullens to fly out to end the game. Helsley last allowed an earned run on April 8th. Since then he has converted 11 saves and finished 14 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:02 pm
