    • Holmes blows second save Monday
Clay Holmes blew his second save of the season against the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Holmes hadn’t allowed an earned run all season. He entered with a 4-1 lead against the Mariners. After a Josh Rojas ground to begin the ninth inning, the floodgates opened. Julio Rodriguez hit an infield single. Cal Raleigh walked. Luke Raley hit an infield single and Gleyber Torres threw the ball into the Yankees dugout to make it 4-2. Mitch Haniger singled to center to make it 4-3. Dylan Moore walked. Dominic Canzone hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and Ty France singled on a ground ball to give the Mariners the lead. In all, Holmes allowed four earned runs and only recorded two outs without allowing any hard contact. His ERA is up to 1.74 on the season.

    • Reese Olson has right hip contusion
Reese Olson was diagnosed with a right hip contusion after leaving Monday’s game.

Advice: Olson was hurt when he was hit by a Michael Massey lineup. How he feels tomorrow could determine whether an IL stint is required. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:19 pm

    • Nursing bruised hip
Olson has been diagnosed with a bruised right hip after being struck by a comebacker during Monday's start against Kansas City.

Advice: Olson appears to have escaped with a minor injury, though the team will closely monitor him over the next few days. His next start tentatively lines up for Saturday against the Blue Jays, and the club should have clarity on his upcoming availability later in the week. Olson noted after the game that he expects to be fine, and he was already moving around better, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:12 pm

    • Reese Olson exits after taking liner to hip
Reese Olson left Monday’s game in the third inning after taking a liner off his hip.

Advice: Beau Breiske replaced him versus the Royals. Olson gave up two runs — one earned — and five hits in 2 2/3 innings, putting him in line for the loss. If he needs to skip his next start, the Tigers could slot Kenta Maeda into his spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:01 pm

    • Ozuna homers again in nightcap
Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and two runs scored against the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: Ozuna continues his monster season with his 14th home run of the year in the second game of the doubleheader. Only Gunnar Henderson and Kyle Tucker have more home runs this year. Ozuna hit 40 home runs last year and didn’t hit his 14th home run last year until June 22nd. His average is up to .327 and he has a 1.047 OPS this year.

    • Leaves start early
Olson exited Monday's start against the Royals after being struck by a line drive on his right hip, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. He surrendered two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings before departing.

Advice: Olson was forced to leave the game after being hit by a comebacker that registered at 102 mph off the bat, though he did attempt to fire a few warmup pitches before the training staff walked him off the field, per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Beau Brieske entered the game to replace Olson in the bottom of the third inning. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:32 pm

    • Xander Bogaerts out with shoulder inflammation
The Padres are calling Xander Bogaerts’ injury left shoulder inflammation.

Advice: It’s an odd diagnosis, being that this was a sudden injury sustained while diving for a ball, but it’s what we’re left with after the Padres couldn’t initially find anything serious going on within the shoulder. He obviously was not included in the lineup for the second game of today’s doubleheader. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:16 pm

    • Initial tests good on Xander Bogaerts’ shoulder
The Padres said that the initial imaging on Xander Bogaerts’ shoulder came back negative.

Advice: Hopefully, this will prove to be a day-to-day situation. We might know more later today. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:17 pm

    • Initial imaging returns negative
Bogaerts had preliminary imaging on his left shoulder come back negative Monday, though the Padres are awaiting additional test results, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: The veteran infielder exited Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader after he suffered the injury while making a diving stop at second base. Bogaerts likely won't be available for Monday's nightcap, but he should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:44 pm
