    • Stays hot in win
Marte went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Thursday's 4-3 win over San Diego.

Advice: Marte delivered the go-ahead run in the seventh inning when his two-out single plated Corbin Carroll. Marte has rebounded nicely from an 0-for-22 skid in late May, going 11-for-28 (.393) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI and five runs scored over the last eight contests. The Diamondbacks' offense could get a boost if the struggling Carroll can build off his three-hit performance Thursday, which would give Marte more run-producing opportunities. • Belts fourth homer
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Atlanta on Thursday.

Advice: The Nationals' only two runs in the contest came on back-to-back homers by CJ Abrams and Thomas in the sixth inning. The long ball was Thomas' first extra-base hit of any kind since May 29, and he batted just .185 (5-for-27) over that seven-game stretch. Since returning May 27 from a lengthy stay on the injured list, Thomas is batting .250 with two homers, six RBI, six runs and four stolen bases over 11 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:42 pm

    • Logs steal in three-hit game
Tatis went 3-for-5 with a double, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Tatis has racked up nine hits over his last three games and is batting .449 (22-for-49) during his 12-game hitting streak. In addition to the hot bat, Tatis took advantage of getting on base Thursday by picking up his first steal since May 7. The outfielder is up to a .283/.356/.450 slash line with seven thefts, 10 home runs, 32 RBI and 41 runs scored through 66 contests this season, and he's been one of baseball's hottest hitters so far in June. • Mitch Garver socks solo homer in win over A’s
Mitch Garver drove in two runs and hit a solo homer in a victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Garver also drew two walks. He blooped in a single to score Cal Raleigh in the fourth, and his homer was off a center-cut fastball from T.J. McFarland that extended Seattle’s lead to 3-0. Garver has six homers on the season and has been a significant disappointment with a slash of .175/.285/.327 over the first 60-plus games of 2024. • Set to run Thursday
Manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Benintendi (Achilles) will begin a running program Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Grifol also said that Benintendi will take batting practice Thursday in addition to running. The 29-year-old outfielder landed on the injured list Sunday due to left Achilles tendinitis, and how he feels after Thursday could help determine his chances of returning when eligible June 12. • Sean Murphy back in lineup Thursday vs. Nationals
Sean Murphy (elbow) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals.

Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging sign to see Murphy back handling the catching duties following a brief one-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the late stages of Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox. The 29-year-old backstop has been snake-bitten by injuries this season, but managed to escape his most incident with nothing more than a nasty looking bruise. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:44 pm

    • Getting ribs checked out
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that Hays is being examined after being hit the ribs by a pitch during Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: He was drilled in the left ribcage by a Yimi Garcia pitch in the top of the ninth inning. Hayes remained in the game to run the bases but was clearly in a lot of pain, so the Orioles wanted to get him checked out to make sure he didn't suffer any fractures. Aside from the hit by pitch, Hays struck out in his other three plate appearances Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:05 pm

    • Hays getting checked out after HBP on Tuesday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Austin Hays is getting checked out after being hit by a pitch in the ninth inning on Thursday.

Advice: Hays was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts before getting drilled in the ribs in his final at-bat. He would later come around to score on a two-run home run by Ryan O’Hearn, but the 28-year-old will be evaluated for further injury. Hays has been playing more regularly of late with Cedric Mullins struggling, so if Hays were also to miss time, that could open up the door for Kyle Stowers to get consistent at-bats. • Returns to Atlanta lineup
Murphy (elbow) will start at catcher and bat sixth in Thursday's game versus the Nationals.

Advice: Murphy had to depart Tuesday's game against the Red Sox after being struck on the right elbow by a pitch and was then held out of action Wednesday. It will be just a one-game absence for Atlanta's top catcher, though, as he and his teammates take on Mitchell Parker and the Nationals on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm
