    • Red Sox promote RHP prospect Perales to AA
      Red Sox promoted starting pitching prospect Luis Perales to Double-A Portland.

      Advice: Depending on the scouting service, Perales is either ranked as the best or second-best pitching prospect in Boston’s system and one of their top 10 overall prospects. The 21-year-old had a 3.42 ERA across 26 1/3 innings (seven starts) with 46 strikeouts and just 10 walks. He will now try to keep up that strikeout rate at a higher level, but the 6'1" starter was one of the high-upside prospects who many thought would benefit from the Red Sox overhauling their pitching development system.     • Silences Dodgers over five frames
      Nelson (3-3) earned the win Wednesday, shutting out the Dodgers over five innings while allowing five hits and three walks. He struck out five.

      Advice: Nelson didn't draw the start but relieved Brandon Hughes with just two outs in the first inning before pitching all the way into the sixth. The right-hander struck out three of the first five batters he faced and induced 10 whiffs on the night, while also working his way out of multiple jams against a lethal Dodgers lineup. It was a great bounceback effort for Nelson after allowing a season-high eight runs in his previous outing. He's now won three of his last four decisions (spanning six outings).       Spence did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over three innings while striking out four.

      Advice: Spence got knocked around early, surrendering a leadoff single to Charlie Blackmon to open the contest, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Elias Diaz three batters later. Those would be the only two runs allowed by the right-hander on the night, though he continued to struggle with his command, needing 27 pitches to get through the third inning alone.       Gomber did not factor into the decision in a win over Oakland on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six over eight innings.

      Advice: Gomber went 1-2-3 through Oakland's lineup in each of the first three innings before surrendering a solo homer to JJ Bleday in the bottom of the fourth. However, that would be the only run that he'd allow while going eight innings for the first time this season. The lefty induced 12 whiffs on the night and didn't walk a batter for the first time in his last four starts.       Ryne Nelson tossed five shutout innings with five strikeouts in a win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Brandon Hughes had recorded the first two outs of the game as the opener. Nelson came in for the final out and shut down the Dodgers over five frames, scattering five hits and three walks with five strikeouts to earn the win. The 26-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 6.03 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, and a 28/10 K/BB ratio across 34 1/3 innings. His next outing should come against the Rangers in Texas next week.       Tyler Glasnow allowed three runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: Glasnow had worked around a pair of hits and an error through four scoreless innings before the Diamondbacks got to him in the fifth. A walk and a single put two runners on for Corbin Carroll, who brought both runners in to score on a triple. A wild pitch allowed Carroll to cross home for the third run. Glasnow would complete the frame and was done after five on 95 pitches. He struck out six.       Advice: Beeks was summoned to close out the game with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. A single and a walk put a runner in scoring position with two outs before Zack Gelof knocked a base hit to drive in the game-tying run. Beeks was able to keep the game tied to send it to extras.       Advice: Gomber was excellent against the A’s, holding them to one run over eight innings of work. The one mistake was a solo homer by JJ Bleday in the fourth inning. Gomber scattered four more hits and struck out six batters with no walks allowed. He was saddled with a no-decision after a blown save in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander will take an impressive 2.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 41/17 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in Colorado on Monday. Spence loaded the bases once again in the third, but was able to keep the Rockies off the board. He was done after three innings at 70 pitches, scattering five hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
