    • Quantrill throws five shutout innings in win
Cal Quantrill threw five shutout innings and got the win in the Rockies’ 3-2 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Quantrill gave up three hits, walked four and struck out one. The win was his fifth in 13 starts this year. Quantrill’s ERA is down to 3.58, but he doesn’t miss many bats as his 16 percent strikeout percentage is in the bottom 15 among qualified starters. His 4.42 xFIP is more indicative of the pitcher he’s been this season. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins on the road next week. Rotoworld Today, 7:52 pm

    • Jake Woodford hit hard in loss to Red Sox
Jake Woodford was obliterated for seven runs over four innings on Thursday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: The Red Sox had no trouble solving Woodford in this one as he surrender a whopping 10 hits, including a leadoff blast to Jarren Duran and a three-run homer to Enmanuel Valdez. He struck out three and also issued three walks. The White Sox don’t have a ton of alternatives to plug into their starting rotation at the moment, but it’s difficult to imagine Woodford getting another turn here. Rotoworld Today, 7:52 pm

    • India drives in two in win against Cubs Thursday
Jonathan India went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: India had an RBI single in the sixth inning and walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. He was dropped in the order after a slow start to the season, but India has picked it up going 22-for-76 (.289) with 16 walks in his last 24 games. Rotoworld Today, 7:00 pm

    • Nick Gonzales hits fourth homer Thursday in loss
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Pirates’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Gonzales took Dodgers starter Walker Buehler deep in the early stages of the contest for his fourth long ball of the season. The 25-year-old infielder has been an unexpected revelation for Pittsburgh, batting .315 (28-for-89) with four homers and two steals in 24 games since arriving back in the majors last month. • Bailey Falter lit up for five runs against Dodgers
Bailey Falter was torched for five runs over four innings on Thursday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Falter ran into a buzzsaw in the opening frame as Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup tagged him for four runs on five hits, with a three-run homer by Freddie Freeman accounting for the majority of the damage. He struck out six and also issued a pair of walks. The blowup outing snapped a streak of six consecutive starts in which he had allowed three earned runs or fewer dating back to May 5. He’ll aim for better results on Wednesday when he faces the division-rival Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Rotoworld Today, 6:51 pm

    • Duvall hits sixth home run in win Thursday
Adam Duvall went 1-for-4 with a two-run home against the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Duvall’s sixth of the season. He’s still hitting just .195 on the year. Duvall was in a deep slump before his game-tying home run in the seventh inning. He still needs to show more at the plate if he’s going to be the everyday right fielder for the Braves in the wake of Ronald Acuna Jr.'s season-ending injury. Rotoworld Today, 6:07 pm

    • Parker goes seven innings in no-decison Thursday
Mitchell Parker allowed two runs in seven innings and got a no-decision against the Braves on Thursday.

Advice: Parker gave up three hits, walked none and struck out two. He had a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning, but Adam Duvall got him for a game-tying two-run home run. Parker’s ERA is 3.47 in 10 starts this year, though he’s won just one of his last eight starts. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Tigers on the road next week.

    • Schumaker: Max Meyer returning to majors ‘soon’
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said this week in an interview with Fish on First that he expects Max Meyer to return to the majors soon.

Advice: Schumaker added that Meyer’s recent starts for Triple-A Jacksonville have been “outstanding” and added that he’ll be back up soon. The 25-year-old top prospect opened the year in Miami’s starting rotation due to injuries, delivering a phenomenal three-start run in early April before being demoted to the minors in an effort to manage his workload. He struck out seven batters and allowed three runs over four innings last Friday in his most recent outing for Triple-A Jacksonville and it’s not unthinkable that he could be back in the majors at some point in the coming days, especially now that Edward Cabrera (shoulder) is back on the injured list. • Masyn Winn returns to lineup Thursday vs. Rockies
Masyn Winn (back) is in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Rockies.

Advice: Winn took a seat for Wednesday’s game against the Astros to address a lingering back issue, so it’s a positive development that he’s ready to roll for Thursday’s series opener against the Rockies at Busch Stadium. The 22-year-old shortstop has been excellent this season, taking a major step forward at the dish, batting .309 with three homers and eight steals across 197 plate appearances over 54 games.
