• Riding pine Friday
McKinstry is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: McKinstry will yield to Ryan Kreidler at shortstop for the third time in the last four games. McKinstry is 4-for-29 (.138) with 10 strikeouts since June 12. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:37 pm

  • Starting Friday
Correa (wrist) is playing shortstop and batting second Friday against Seattle.

Advice: Correa was removed from Thursday's game after being hit by a pitch, but his bruised right wrist won't force him to miss a start. He went 4-for-9 with four runs and two RBI during this week's series against Arizona. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:10 pm
  • Carlos Correa back in lineup on Friday vs. M’s
Carlos Correa (wrist) is in the lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Mariners.

Advice: The 29-year-old shortstop was drilled in the right wrist by a fastball during Thursday’s game against the Diamondbacks. Correa told reporters afterwards that he was fine though and that he planned to play on Friday, and true to his word he’s in the lineup and batting second against Logan Gilbert and the M’s on Friday evening in Seattle. On the season, Correa is slashing a healthy .309/.380/.494 to go along with eight homers and 38 RBI in 267 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:08 pm
  • Masyn Winn absent from Cardinals lineup on Friday
Masyn Winn is absent from the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Friday’s battle against the Reds.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 22-year-old rookie shortstop. Brandon Crawford will draw a rare start in his place and will bat eighth for the Cardinals against Reds’ right-hander Frankie Montas on Friday evening in St. Louis. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:00 pm

  • Dropped from 40-man roster
The Rockies designated Trejo for assignment Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Trejo had seen semi-regular playing time in June while Brendan Rodgers was injured, but he went just 6-for-29 (.207) with four runs and an RBI since the start of the month. Trejo will hand over his spot on the 40-man and 26-man roster to Aaron Schunk, who'll provide some infield depth for the Rockies. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm

  • Rockies designate Alan Trejo for assignment
Rockies designated INF Alan Trejo for assignment.

Advice: Trejo lost his 40-man spot over the winter, only to make the Rockies as non-roster player this spring. Alas, he hit just .143/.182/.143 in 67 plate appearances in his utility role. Trejo is a fine defender, but since he has so little to offer offensively, he’ll probably clear waivers again. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:37 pm

  • Homer, two hits in win
Rengifo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

Advice: Rengifo increased the Angels' lead to five runs with a two-out, two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning, giving the second baseman his first long ball since May 24. The performance marked his eighth multi-hit performance this month and the third in his four contests, raising his season batting average to .312. The home run was Rengifo's fifth of the campaign. • Garcia hits RBI triple in win over Guardians
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a triple, and an RBI against the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia tied the game at one with an RBI triple in the sixth inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. Those were the only runs the Royals scored on the night, but it was enough to squeak out a 2-1 victory. Garcia needs to have more of an impact if he’s going to retain his spot atop the Kansas City lineup for the rest of the season. He’s hitting .232 with a .629 OPS on the season.
