• Has BP session Saturday
Cole (elbow) threw 29 pitches in his bullpen session Saturday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Cole noted that he had a "pretty good" bullpen session, with 13 of his 29 pitches being breaking balls and his velocity topping at 89 MPH. He is set to stay in Tampa Bay and throw another bullpen early in the coming week. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Kodai Senga (shoulder) remains in holding pattern
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Saturday that Kodai Senga (shoulder) will need a few more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters.

Advice: Mendoza added that Senga remains in the process of tweaking his throwing mechanics, which is the reason he hasn’t faced hitters yet. It’s unclear whether this latest development will push back his season debut, but it’s a notable wrinkle as he continues his rehabilitation process. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Starting rehab assignment Wednesday
Whitlock (oblique) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock was placed on the 15-day IL on April 17 after sustaining a left oblique strain April 16 against the Guardians. Before landing on the IL, Whitlock was 1-0 over four starts with a 1.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 18.1 innings. How he fares during and after his rehab start Wednesday will determine whether the 27-year-old right-hander will require more than one outing. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

Gerrit Cole (elbow) threw a 29-pitch bullpen session on Saturday at Tropicana Field.

  • Brooks Raley (elbow) to visit Dr. Keith Meister
Brooks Raley (elbow) will visit Dr. Keith Meister next week to undergo further evaluation.

Advice: Not great. Raley told reporters Saturday that he’s dealing with potential ligament damage and bone spurs in his left elbow. He added that all options are on the table when he visits the renowned orthopedic surgeron, including either Tommy John or internal brace surgeries. However, he could also wind up going the rest and rehabilitation route. There should be some clarity on his status at some point next week, but he’s facing a lengthy absence regardless of whatever path is ultimately decided upon. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago

  • Max Scherzer (thumb) receives cortisone injection
Max Scherzer received a cortisone injection in his right thumb on Wednesday.

Advice: Scherzer underwent additional testing earlier this week that revealed his thumb issue to be nerve-related, not structural. It’s an encouraging development that he’s reportedly experiencing significant improvement following the additional treatment. The 39-year-old righty was able to resume playing catch on Friday without any issues. He’ll presumably need a couple rehab outings before making it back to the Rangers’ starting rotation mix. • Marlins activate Jesús Luzardo for Saturday start
Marlins activated LHP Jesús Luzardo from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Luzardo will take the ball for Saturday’s showdown against the division-rival Phillies at loanDepot park following a two-week absence due to a flexor strain in his left elbow. The 26-year-old southpaw has been one of the few positives in an otherwise dismal campaign for Miami and should provide a significant lift to a struggling starting rotation. Unfortunately, his results have been less than spectacular with a lackluster 24.1 percent strikeout rate and bloated 5.07 FIP. It’s not what you want. Rotoworld Today, 9:22 am

  • Marlins option Eli Villalobos to Triple-A
Marlins optioned RHP Eli Villalobos to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Villalobos heads back to the minors to make room for Jesús Luzardo to return from the injured list ahead of Saturday’s showdown against th Philies after allowing one run over 4 1/3 innings in three appearances for the Marlins. Rotoworld Today, 9:17 am
