• Smacks solo shot in rehab debut
Gelof (oblique) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Round Rock on Saturday, going 1-for-5 with a solo home run.

Advice: Gelof's ability to both play a full game on defense and generate enough force with the bat to clear the fences speak to his seemingly improved health. Gelof is set to be evaluated after each rehab game to determine his progress, and if he doesn't have any concerning residual effects overnight, the 24-year-old could be back in Las Vegas' lineup Sunday. • Breaks out with four hits
McMahon went 4-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Rangers.

Advice: McMahon entered Saturday just 2-for-21 (.095) over his last six contests. The only downside to his performance in this contest was that all four hits were singles. The third baseman is up to a .303/.391/.462 slash line with five home runs, 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and no stolen bases over 39 contests this season. He's never hit higher than .254 or slugged better than .450 in a full season, so the first quarter of the 2024 campaign has essentially been McMahon at his absolute best, which consequently raises a red flag for regression later in the year. • On base three times in loss
Julien went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 25-year-old Canadian put together a solid performance in Toronto as the Twins' leadoff hitter. The multi-hit performance was Julien's first since April 27, snapping a slump that had seen him hit just .097 (3-for-31) over the prior 12 games, while the steal was his fourth of the season, establishing a new career high after he swiped three in 109 games last year as a rookie. • Nico Hoerner clubs solo homer in loss to Pirates
Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and is now hitting .272/.351/.397 with two homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 6:44 pm

  • Christopher Morel exits game with sore right knee
The Cubs announced that Christopher Morel was pulled from Saturday’s ballgame against the Pirates due to right knee soreness.

Advice: The severity of the injury remains unclear, but the fact that they’re calling the issue just soreness bodes well for Morel’s outlook. It’s likely that he’ll receive a day off on Sunday as a precautionary measure, but it seems plausible that he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Today, 6:09 pm

  • Wenceel Perez swipes base in win over Astros
Wenceel Perez doubled, walked, stole a base and scored a run as the Tigers triumphed over the Astros on Saturday evening in Motown.

Advice: Perez drew a walk off of Cristian Javier in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the Tigers couldn’t cash him in from there. He then smacked a double off of Javier in the second and rode home on the first of Kerry Carpenter’s home runs on the night. The 24-year-old outfielder finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .282/.363/.493 with three homers, eight RBI and three stolen bases in his first 23 games of big league action. • Plates four runs
Stott went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's 8-3 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Stott's bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning put the Phillies ahead for what turned out to be for good. He also added an RBI single in the eighth. It's the second four-RBI game for Stott over his last 10 contests, and he's batting .375 with a couple homers and 13 RBI over that span. Rotowire.com Today, 5:34 pm

  • Clubs first homer in loss
Brujan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Brujan got the scoring started in this one with a leadoff blast off Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was his first home run as a Marlin and just his fourth in 130 major-league games. Brujan also singled and was caught stealing and added an additional run after reaching on a fielder's choice. The 26-year-old has become an everyday player for the Marlins over the last two weeks, starting 13 of the last 15 contests. His production has slowed in May, but Brujan has shown enough since getting regular reps to make him a viable deep-league option. Rotowire.com Today, 5:26 pm

  • Exits with right knee injury
Morel was removed from Saturday's game versus the Pirates in the fifth inning with right knee soreness, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Morel looked to hurt the knee on a stolen base attempt in the top of the third inning. He remained in the game initially but was removed for a pinch-hitter following a rain delay. The Cubs could have more on Morel's condition after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 5:11 pm
