• Wild in no-decision
Gibson allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven over five-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Gibson also hit a batter, which forced in the Brewers' first run of the game. The wildness brought an end to his four-start run of quality starts, as he threw just 55 of 104 pitches for strikes Saturday. Gibson is at a 3.67 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB through 49 innings across eight starts this season. He had a 2.6 BB/9 in each of the previous two seasons, but it's now at 3.7 in 2024. While that hasn't led to more damage in the runs column, it's a dangerous trend for a 36-year-old whose best trait is his ability to eat innings. Gibson is projected to make his next start at home versus the Red Sox. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Hit hard in no-decision
Woods Richardson came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering five runs on eight hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: The Twins spotted the right-hander a 4-0 lead by the top of the second inning, but Woods Richardson quickly ran into trouble of his own as half of the eight hits off him went for extra bases, including homers by Bo Bichette and Davis Schneider. Woods Richardson has failed to complete five innings in two of his last three starts, but he'll still carry a respectable 3.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB through 25 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Cleveland. • Shelled in return
Javier (2-1) took the loss against Detroit on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks with no strikeouts over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Javier was activated off the injured list Saturday to make his first start for the Astros since April 14, but the right-hander didn't look quite right in his return. In addition to getting knocked around for seven runs and throwing only 21 of 50 pitches for strikes, Chandler Rome of The Athletic notes that Javier's final two fastballs clocked in at 89.7 mph and 90.2 mph, well below this typical velocity. It's unclear whether his struggles Saturday are an indication that Javier isn't fully recovered from the neck issue that originally sidelined him or if he was simply rusty, but he's currently penciled in to make his next start at home against Oakland. • Strikes out eight in quality start
Peralta allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Peralta threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes in his return from a five-game suspension. The right-hander earned his first quality start in four outings and his fourth of the year, though he's yet to pitch past the sixth inning this season. He's at a solid 3.63 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP and 58:16 K:BB over 44.2 innings through eight starts. Peralta's next start is projected to be on the road in Houston. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Improves to 5-0
Skubal (5-0) earned the win over Houston on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Skubal continued his run of excellence, recording his fifth straight quality start and picking up his fifth win without a loss on the season. The left-hander has built upon last year's breakout campaign to emerge as one of MLB's top hurlers and Detroit's undeniable staff ace. Skubal ranks seventh among qualified starters with a 2.02 ERA and fourth with a 0.86 WHIP. He's tied for fourth with 60 punchouts over 49 innings. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

  • Gives up grand slam in loss
Lodolo (3-2) took the loss Saturday versus the Giants, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.

Advice: His line is deceptive -- Lodolo permitted all four runs in the first inning on a Matt Chapman grand slam. He also gave up two hits in the fourth, but Lodolo escaped that rough patch with no further damage. The southpaw started the season with just five runs allowed over his first four starts, but he's been tagged for four runs in each of his last two outings. He's now at a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts this season. Lodolo will look to get back on track in his next start, a tough one that is tentatively scheduled to be on the road versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

  • Better in second start
Black allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Black put in a solid effort, though he walked two of the first three batters he faced in the fifth inning, and that was enough to end his second career start. The only run on his line was a solo shot from Elly De La Cruz in the fourth. Black has given up six runs on 12 hits, including two homers, over his first 8.2 major-league innings. Blake Snell (thigh) is beginning a rehab assignment Sunday, so it's possible Black may be kept in the majors for one or more starts depending on how long Snell's rehab takes. If he gets another turn through the rotation, Black is projected for a home start versus the Rockies, though the Giants could also skip his turn since they have an off day Thursday. • Fires seven hitless frames
Fried (3-1) earned the win over the Mets on Saturday, allowing three walks while striking out five batters over seven scoreless and hitless innings.

Advice: Fried threw 109 pitches during his seven frames, so manager Brian Snitker didn't allow him to push any further for an individual no-hitter. Atlanta's bullpen carried the no-no into the ninth inning before J.D. Martinez ended the combined bid with a two-out solo homer off Raisel Iglesias. Though he didn't etch his name in the record books, Fried bounced back very nicely after giving up four runs over seven frames and picking up his first loss in his previous outing. He's now notched four quality starts on the campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 7:28 pm

  • Not ready to start Sunday
Taillon (back) will not start Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Taillon had to be scratched from a scheduled start Friday due to back stiffness. He had hoped to take the ball Sunday after throwing off a mound Saturday, but while the mound session went well, he's not quite ready. It's not clear at this point when Taillon might be ready to make his next start, but there does seem to be optimism he can avoid the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 7:03 pm
