• Javier Baez (back) receives injection on Friday
Javier Baez received an injection in his injured back on Friday and will be re-evaluated early next week to determine his availability for baseball activities.

Advice: The slumping 31-year-old shortstop landed on the injured list this week with lumbar spine inflammation and the team has yet to give any sort of timeline for his return. In the meantime, Zach McKinstry and Ryan Kriedler will continue to share time at shortstop for the Tigers. Rotoworld Friday, 3:11 pm

  • Another bullpen on tap
Faedo (hip) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Faedo said he felt "really good" Thursday after completing his first bullpen session since being placed on the injured list June 5. With another bullpen coming Sunday, Faedo seems likely to begin a rehab stint in the near future and could be back with the Tigers by the end of June. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:10 pm

  • Receives injection for back
Baez received an injection to treat lumbar spine inflammation Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Baez was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to his back injury. He will be re-evaluated early next week before potentially resuming baseball activities. Prior to landing on the IL, the 31-year-old shortstop was slashing .183/.209/.247 with nine doubles, one home run and 25 RBI over 196 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:55 pm

  • Jake Bird (elbow) begins rehab assignement
Jake Bird (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

  • Davis Schneider posts two hits, homers in loss
Davis Schneider went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday in the Blue Jays’ loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Schneider took Brewers starter Tobias Myers deep in the opening frame to supply Toronto’s lone run of the contest until he helped spark a furious ninth-inning rally that came up just short. It was the first time he’s gone deep since May 31. He’s given up some leadoff opportunities to rookie Spencer Horwitz over the last few days, but appears likely to continue batting near the top of the Blue Jays’ lineup. • Slated for mound work
Faedo (hip) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Faedo looks set to throw off a mound for the first time since he landed on the 15-day injured list last week with inflammation in his surgically-repaired right hip. He looks to be closing in on a rehab assignment and shouldn't need too many appearances before being activated since he hasn't missed extensive time. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:22 pm

  • Alex Faedo (hip) to throw bullpen on Thursday
Alex Faedo (hip) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: If all goes well there, Faedo could be cleared to face live hitters. He’s only expected to need a couple of appearances on a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to rejoin the Tigers’ bullpen. Before landing on the injured list with right hip inflammation, Faedo has registered a 3.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 29/13 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 frames. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:15 pm

  • Filling in for banged-up Diaz
Stallings will start at catcher and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Stallings will be getting his second straight start while Elias Diaz remains day-to-day after straining his left calf in Monday's 5-0 loss to Minnesota. Though he's seen light usage for much of the season while Diaz has largely stayed healthy, Stallings has produced well in his limited opportunities, producing an .802 OPS over 104 plate appearances. • Mark Vientos drives in two in loss
Mark Vientos went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: Vientos laced an RBI double 98.2 mph down the left-field line for two RBI in the second inning. The 24-year-old continues to operate as the Mets primary starter at third base, for now, and is hitting .320/.381/.587 with 15 RBI on the season. He’s worthy of an add in most leagues while he has the starting job. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:52 pm
