• Sharp in second win
Valdez (2-1) earned the win Friday over the Tigers, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Valdez allowed two runs on a Matt Vierling double in the third inning before blanking Detroit over his final four frames en route to his second victory of the year. It's an encouraging bounce-back effort from Valdez, who allowed five runs in a loss to Seattle in his previous start. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 3.64 with a 1.35 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB across five starts (29.2 innings). Valdez is currently scheduled for a home matchup with the A's in his next outing. • Ranger Suárez dominates again in win over Marlins
Ranger Suárez delivered yet another dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Marlins, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the evening while issuing two free passes. While two of the three hits that he allowed were doubles, the Marlins never seriously threatened against him. Suárez got nine swings and misses on 97 pitches on the night, posting an elite CSW of 36 percent. He now sits at 7-0 on the season with an impeccable 1.50 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and a 55/8 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first eight starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes the mound against the Mets on Wednesday night. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Trevor Rogers demolished in loss to Phillies
Trevor Rogers was demolished in Friday night’s loss to the Phillies, giving up five runs (four earned) on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. Rogers struck out three and walked two during the abbreviated outing. The Phillies scored twice in the second inning — including a solo blast by Nick Castellanos — then really broke it open by scoring three more runs while chasing Rogers in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old southpaw got nine swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll attempt to improve upon his grotesque 6.57 ERA and 1.86 WHIP when he takes on the struggling offense of the Tigers on Wednesday in Detroit. It’s the classic, stoppable force meets moveable object scenario. Something has to give. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Joe Ryan keeps Blue Jays quiet in victory
Joe Ryan pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday in the Twins’ 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays.

Advice: The lone run was a 365-foot homer from Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The ball barely rated as hard hit, leaving his bat at 95.5 mph, and was a homer in only 11 ballparks. It’s Ryan’s fourth straight quality start, and he still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a game this season. Alas, the win tonight was only his second. Ryan will face the Yankees next. • Yusei Kikuchi goes eight in tough loss to Twins
Yusei Kikuchi took a tough loss Friday after limiting the Twins to two runs over eight innings.

Advice: Kikuchi allowed four hits, walked none and struck out three. He currently has a 5.1 K:BB ratio (46/9 in 47 2/3 IP). He came in at 2.4 in his first four years in MLB before finishing at 3.8 in his breakthrough 2023 campaign. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • Clarke Schmidt outduels Taj Bradley in win Friday
Clarke Schmidt outdueled Taj Bradley in Friday evening’s victory over the Rays, scattering five hits over 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out six batters on the evening while walking a pair. The only real threat against him came in the fifth inning where he allowed a two-out single to Richie Palacios and walked Jose Caballero, but he punched out Alex Jackson to quell the uprising. Schmidt generated 14 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the game — five each on his sweeper and cutter — while posting a CSW of 34 percent. He’ll bring a stellar 2.95 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 47/15 K/BB ratio (42 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Twins in Minnesota. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago
  • Taj Bradley strikes out seven in loss to Yankees
Taj Bradley was outstanding in a tough-luck loss against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering one run on four hits over six stellar innings of work.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander racked up seven strikeouts and issued only two walks in his 2024 season debut. The only blemish on his day came in the form of an RBI single off the bat of Anthony Rizzo in the fourth inning. Unfortunately for him, the Rays couldn’t muster a single run of support for him. Bradley got 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — at least two on each of his four offerings — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He needs to be rostered and started in all formats for next week’s matchup against the Red Sox in Boston on Wednesday. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

  • Framber Valdez defeats Tigers to improve to 2-1
Framber Valdez pitched well in Friday night’s victory over the Tigers, allowing only two runs on six hits over seven frames.

Advice: Valdez walked two and punched out four on the night. He surrendered a two-run double to Matt Vierling in the third inning, but kept the Tigers’ off the board the remainder of his night — affording his offense the opportunity to come back and earn him a win, which they finally did in the eighth inning. The 30-year-old southpaw got 10 swings and misses on 103 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine outing as he carries a 3.64 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 23/9 K/BB ratio (29 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics. Rotoworld Today, 6:08 pm

  • Casey Mize logs quality start in no-decision
Casey Mize logged a quality start in a tough-luck no-decision on Friday night, holding the Astros to just one run on five hits over six strong innings of work.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of free passes while striking out two batters on the night. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Kyle Tucker in the sixth inning. Aside from that, Mize was in complete command. He got 10 swings and misses on 88 pitches on the night — five on his heater which averaged 95.5 mph — while posting a CSW of 20 percent. Mize has actually pitched well through his first seven starts, compiling a 3.58 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 26/9 K/BB ratio over 37 2/3 innings of work. He’ll do battle against the Marlins his next time out at home on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 6:07 pm
