      Ronald Acuña hit a solo homer while going 2-for-5 in an extra-inning loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Acuña Jr. hasn’t shown a ton of power in the early portion of the season, but he came through in a big way with a game-tying homer in the eighth off Daniel Hudson in the eighth. That’s just the second roundtripper of the season for the reigning MVP, but it’s hard to fathom the power isn’t going to come from a player that swatted 41 homers in 2023.       Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts for his second save Friday against the Red Sox.

    • Rafael Devers doubles twice versus Twins
      Rafael Devers doubled twice, drove in Boston’s only two runs and walked Friday against the Twins.

    • Slams door for save
      Duran struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Red Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Duran needed just 11 pitches to quickly retire the middle third of Boston's lineup in order. He's struck out three batters while grabbing a pair of saves in two appearances since returning from the injured lust. The 26-year-old posted terrific numbers last season -- 2.45 ERA and 12.1 K/9 through 62.1 innings -- and should see plenty of save chances throughout the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:17 pm
       
    • Brady Singer whiffs eight, allows one run vs Texas
      Brady Singer struck out eight over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rangers on Friday, but didn’t factor into the decision.

      Advice: Unfortunately for Singer, Michael Lorenzen held the Royals to just one run while he was in the game. Fortunately for Singer and fans of Kansas City, they scored the next six runs, but alas, no victory. Fantasy managers do get plenty of strikeouts, however, and he lowered his ERA to 2.45 in the process. Singer will try and keep the good run going when he faces the Brewers on Wednesday.       Javier (neck) will throw four innings or roughly 60-to-65 pitches Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi before potentially rejoining the big-league rotation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Manager Joe Espada said the hope is that Javier can rejoin Houston's rotation after this first rehab start, which would line him up to return either Thursday in New York or Friday in Detroit. He has been out since April 14 with neck discomfort. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:11 pm

      Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total RBI and an additional run scored in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Mountcastle got the Orioles on the board in the third inning with a solo shot off Carlos Rodon, tying the game 1-1. He'd add a second RBI with a base hit in the fifth, extending the lead to 4-1, before scoring on a Jordan Westburg triple. It was a nice finish to the series for the 27-year-old Mountcastle, who'd gone 0-for-12 in the first three games against New York.       Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season.       Ryan Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 7-2 win for the Orioles over the Yankees on Thursday.

      Advice: Mountcastle tied the game at 1-1 with his solo homer off Carlos Rodón in the third inning. That’s the fifth homer of the year, and his RBI single in the fifth brings that total to 16. It’s easy to forget about the 27-year-old because of all the star power in Baltimore, but Mountcastle is no slouch, and he’s slashing .290/.345/.495 to prove it. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:05 pm
