    • Braves coaches think Acuña needs a “detox”
      According to Ken Suguira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves gave Ronald Acuña Jr. the day off on Wednesday because they wanted him to “detox” as a way to break his slump.

      Advice: Acuña’s batting average (.245), slugging percentage (.342), and home-run rate (one per 51.7 at-bats) are all beneath the single-season lows in his seven-year career, as the 26-year-old tries to follow up a historically good season. “You can just read their faces sometimes, and actions,” said Braves coach Brian Snitker. “And it’s like, ‘Well, it’s time.’ Kid needs a little breather here. He’s played every inning of every game. It’s not a bad thing to sit and watch sometimes.” Braves coaches, Eddie Pérez and Tom Goodwin, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe that Acuña is pressing. “Sometimes, you force some things,” Goodwin said. Perhaps with a short break, Acuña will get back to the level everybody has seen him produce at before. Fantasy managers should clearly keep him in the lineup and hope he gets it going soon.       Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Rays.

      Advice: Devers' sixth-inning solo shot brought Boston to within a run, but it ended up being the final tally for either team. The long ball extended the third baseman's on-base streak to nine contests, and he's hitting .270 with two homers, five RBI and five runs over that stretch. On a less positive note, Devers has struck out at least once in 12 straight games, and his 24.1 percent strikeout rate is on pace to be his worst mark since the abbreviated 2020 campaign.       Joe Musgrove (triceps) is hopeful he’ll return from the injured list to start on Sunday against the Braves.

      Advice: That’s certainly surprising. Musgrove landed on the injured list on May 5 due to triceps tendinitis and hasn’t really done much except play catch since then. You would think that he would need to ramp back up a bit and require a minor league rehab start before jumping right back into the swing of things — and perhaps he may — but this sounds like he’s much closer to a return than most had anticipated.       Rafael Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo shot on Wednesday.

      Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Cincinnati.

      Advice: Gurriel's two-out, bloop double in the eighth inning plated the winning run. The outfielder has been fighting it at the plate and entered the contest batting .121 (8-for-66) with two RBI over the previous 16 games. His average has dropped .231 due to the slump, but Gurriel remains an important middle-of-the-order bat for Arizona and is second on the club with 25 RBI over 40 games.       Musgrove (elbow) could return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Dylan Cease is available to pitch Sunday on his normal four days' rest, but the Padres appear to be leaving the door open for Musgrove to return Sunday if he comes out of his bullpen session Wednesday no worse for the wear.
