    • Struggles in short start
Morton (3-1) took the loss Wednesday versus the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings.

Advice: Morton worked a high pitch count, needing 76 pitches (48 strikes) to get through three frames in his shortest outing of the season. He had pitched into the sixth inning in each of his other seven starts. The 40-year-old's poor start caused his ERA to balloon to 3.52 from 3.14, and he's sporting a 1.15 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB over 46 innings. Assuming there's not an injury at play, Morton is tentatively projected for a road rematch with the Cubs in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
    • Can't contain Colorado
King (3-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven betters over 5.1 innings.

Advice: King fell behind when he yielded three runs in the second inning, and San Diego's offense never put up a fight against Austin Gomber and a trio of Rockies relievers. King had been on a roll coming into Wednesday, putting up 13 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, but he's been very inconsistent this season, giving up at least four runs in four of his 10 appearances. Altogether, he's registered a mediocre 4.31 ERA and 1.36 WHIP along with a 61:26 K:BB through 54.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 pm
    • Seiya Suzuki homers, doubles in win over Braves
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and two runs scored in a win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: The home run was Suzuki’s first since coming off the IL with an oblique strain. The injury came at an inopportune time with Suzuki slashing .305/.368/.525 with a 151 wRC+ before getting hurt. Wednesday is a great sign that he’s fully healthy and ready to start another hot streak. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Charlie Morton chased after three innings
Charlie Morton had a rough start Wednesday allowing three earned runs in just three innings. The Cubs had five hits while Morton walked three more and struck out four.

Advice: Mike Tauchman homered on the first pitch he saw from Morton and nothing was easy after that. Even the unearned he allowed was on his own poor pick-off attempt wide or Matt Olson at first base. It’s still been a solid season overall for Morton and he’ll take a 3.52 ERA into a rematch against these Cubs on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm
    • Continues strong play Wednesday
Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and another run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Suzuki is batting just .217 in five games since returning from an oblique injury, though he has a strong .280 average and .825 OPS on the season. Those numbers are in line with the .285 average and .842 OPS the outfielder posted last year, when he also delivered a career-high 20 home runs. Suzuki only has four long balls so far in 2024, but he's been a consistent hitter at the MLB level and could get the power rolling in short order. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:37 pm

    • Snaps homer drought
Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Walker led off the second inning with his eighth homer of the season and first in 13 games. He entered the contest on a 1-for-16 run and is batting .217 for the month. The recent slump dropped his average to .264, but Walker still leads the team with 28 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:47 pm
    • Jurickson Profar swipes base in loss on Wednesday
Jurickson Profar singled and stole a base on Wednesday afternoon as the Padres were shut out by the Rockies.

Advice: Profar smacked a leadoff single off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning and swiped second base, but the Padres couldn’t cash him in from there. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a strikeout. On the season, he’s still slashing a robust .322/.412/.513 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:52 pm
    • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts). He’ll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:52 pm
    • Drives in four
Contreras went 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and four total RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Contreras got Milwaukee on the board with a three-run, opposite-field blast off Martin Perez in the third inning before tacking on a fourth RBI with a triple in the sixth, his first three-bagger this season. While Contreras had gone 18 games without a home run, he's now recorded at least one hit in nine straight contests, going 17-for-36 (.472) in that span. The 26-year-old catcher is now slashing a robust .359/.434/.553 with six homers, 34 RBI, 39 runs scored and three stolen bases through 196 plate appearances this season.
